But its sold out. And I read something online that they might be making only 10,000 of them. Looks like my luck is out.

Usually when it's marked as sold out without an expected ship date that's it no more coming.

If you look at the Tumbler it's sold out but has an expected shipping day, while the exosuit doesn't

The feeling seems to be that more will be released when the current back log of orders is sorted out, so I wouldn't rule it out yet.

About a month before it shipped it was flagged (by the designer IIRC) as having a very limited production run - either 10k or 20k. Not sure if they'll changed that tbh. I'm guessing TLG knows it's an artificial demand, owing to a **** ton of orders coming from scalpers hoping to profit in the long term. There was one guy on brickpicker (a site I detest)claiming he'd managed to secure 57 of them. I'm guessing it's the same story with the research institute.

It's only because I woke early on the day of release, checked Brickset and saw that they were available that I ordered one of each. I wasn't entirely certain that I wanted either, but I was damned if I was paying ebay prices if I changed my mind.

Really like RI actually, it's also slightly galling that you get a printed brick for that tiny 20 euro set and stickers for the 210 euro Tumbler. I'm still not gone on the Exosuit. It's more the "classic-ness" of the theme/minifigs that drew it to me. Really do like the Ideas boxes, but feck if the couldn't have shipped one a third of the size for the Exosuit. It was downright empty.

There are a couple of reports that suggest we might get more, though it's far from certain. Here is a post on the LEGO Ideas blog, it's a little vague but it does make it sound like it would be available again after the back orders are cleared:

    https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/1-blog/post/17

And here's a report from The Brothers Brick who had been in touch with someone from LEGO that stated there would be further production runs:

    http://www.brothers-brick.com/2014/08/09/fear-not-the-lego-exo-suit-is-not-a-limited-run-news/

I'm waiting for mine still; I ordered it on August 8th. I did it just in time, the next day it went from back ordered to sold out. Expected ship date September 11th.

There is a lot of building in that Cargo Plane.

Picked up two of the new CMFs. Is it just me, or has the quality of these dropped again. I know they've always been slightly inferior, but these new ones are really loose out of the packet.

    Excuse the ignorance, what's CMF?

Collectible Minifigs. Seems to be a good few people complaining about quality in this set. I've emailed TLG with a complaint.

Yes quality of latest series is really poor, Jester head part won't stay on at all.

Latest purchase Volvo 42030 - great build, nice finished model and non of the faults of previous large Technic sets, like the Unimog, although the steering on the Volvo could have been better.

If you're getting a good bit then the online shop is best with free delivery on larger orders plus you get VIP points which will let you buy more Lego cheaper later on!

For older sets I'd try adverts.ie or eBay.

If you want local then Smyth's (esp when sales on) or Argos (3 for 2 on toys from this week I think).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,063 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Architecture series is a waste of time imo, such a wasted opportunity, read a review, look at the pics, save your money for something good. They're lazy design and overpriced.

For the kids, no. Personally, I think that having them open a small toy every single day until Christmas Day waters down the Christmas/Santa experience. I wouldn't begrudge others buying them for their kids but that's a personal thought of mine so we don't buy them. Having said that, there is always one or who interesting pieces/minifigs in them that have both me and the kids salivating over them!

For anyone looking to buy a few sets for Christmas. Argos have their buy 3 toys and get the cheapest one free from today.
I have the cargo plane reserved aswel as a few bits for my small one.

It's not that they're lazy designs, I think it's the scale that the problem. The details of the buildings - or even the basic shape - they're trying to capture are impossible in such small models and you end up with this incredibly rough approximation that completely misses what makes them iconic buildings in the first place. Some are okay but for the most part they're ****e.

If they really wanted to do these building justice I really think they'd be better off going for limited large scale sets... but then again how many people are willing to pay that huge premium. I'd imagine their current strategy is very profitable. As an example..

I've been looking and lusting after the Super Star Destroyer for almost two years now and kept talking myself out of it. I'm a grown adult etc. couldn't rationalise / justify buying it etc, yet anytime I went Christmas or Birthday present shopping for my younger relatives I'd always gravitate to the Lego section in Smyths and stand there longingly before walking away.

I found out last week that the SSD had recently been discontinued & realised just how much I wanted it and was genuinely heartbroken that I hadn't bought it.

I was 35 yesterday and my parents produced this for my present:

Needless to say I'm like a child who's Christmases have all come at once.

I recently built the blue 8888 excavator from bricklink orders and surplus bits I had.
Would recommend it as an antidote to modern studless nonsense. Bah!

Well I've been mad to get some star wars lego , and working in a haunted house over halloween gave me a bit of extra cash to play about with I wanted something big ...1st i settled on the AT-AT , but then i saw her.....and could not resist I know its an extra couple of quid but screw it , Been at it most of the night now and only past the 1st lot of bags can't believe I didn't like Lego when i was a youngfella 30 now like and i find it the most relaxing thing ever

Few people scoffed at me but feic it i don't drink and most people spend the bones of a 100 quid on a night out with nothing to show for it :D

Picked up the Red 5 X Wing earlier (10240), €151 and change, from Argos. Ironic that Argos usually has a bump up compared to the usual best price options for products in general, but this set was 50 quid cheaper than most other places, including the Lego store. Gonna get a Porkins or Luke pilot minifig for it too from bricklink!

Had an order for presents arrive this week and I've just assembled the latest Christmas Lego Store freebie. Really nice little set. 127 pieces in a nice sturdy box. The two minifigs are really surprising. Danish made. The second I took them out of the bag, I could tell they were a much higher quality than the poor quality Chinese made CMF that TLG are charging almost 4 euro a pop for.

They're cunning though, I now want to start collecting the Winter Village scene stuff.

Been really busy with work lately so didn't have a chance to give an update in this thread.

On foot of getting the Super Star Destroyer for my birthday, I've officially become an Lego aficionado :) I'm limiting myself to select Star Wars sets and one or two of my favourites.

I've managed to pick up the following (new and in mint condition) in the past few weeks:

    Clone Wars ARC-170

    5bea68f3-939d-4581-a03b-de41d31e05ba.jpg

    Republic Venator Class Cruiser

    e465e007-fa70-421c-9da8-c05e464aa0d3.jpg

    R2-D2

    LegoR2D2.jpg

    Imperial Lambda Class Shuttle

    LegoLambdaClassShuttle.jpg

I really got back into Star Wars through the Clone Wars animated series & I love the Clones, particularly Rex, Cody, the 501st & the 212th. I've recently discovered the joys of Bricklink so I picked up a few, with more to follow :)

Great haul of sets there mate, did you get them all on Bricklink? The Imperial shuttle is an incredible set I would love it! Congrats. What country was it bought from and is it 100% complete? Cheers

I got the Venator, Arc-170 & Shuttle off a seller here. I had seen them on Adverts with 100% feedback and accidentally found them on eBay, also with 100% feedback when searching for Lego kits. All boxes were sealed & looks like everything is in there. Haven't assembled them all yet.

Picked up R2D2 in Argos Swords near the end of November, seemed to be the only one left in the country according to checkargos.com.

I've also recently grabbed the Tumbler, the UCS X-Wing and Ecto-1 off the Lego store during their Black Friday promotion.

Next on the list is Slave I on 5 January and then I'll be taking a break until the next UCS kit come out late next year. Hopefully the rumours will be true and it'll be a reissue or an updated Falcon for the new films.

Bet you're pleased that you're not a parent who had to pay the crazy secondary market prices! I debated talking my boyfriend into selling his Godson's Crafting Box so that come February he could have a Crafting Box and €40!

Bought the Santa's workshop about an hour after I posted this. Arrived in three days with standard postage. It's a bit out of context with the older stuff, but I Love it. Sitting on the hall table now. Already hunting around bricklink and will definitely start collecting the rest of the Winter village stuff and try and have a display next year. Will also have a mess about with lighting it with SMD LEDS, just like the display below.
