    Hi ,
I know wood ash is a good source of potash for tomatoes, etc. What about the grey, powdery ash from turf? I burn quite a bit in a wood stove so have lots of supply! But, does it have any goodness in it?

I generate plenty of turf ash as well and spread it out over my back garden but I've never noticed any significant beneficial (or detrimental) effects.

According to this, peat ash does not contain much potassium in comparison to wood ash. Toms require a mix of nutrients (nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulphur, magnesium) so you should use a more balanced fertilizer.
