Is everyone talking about the players player of the year when they say they think Bale will win it? If so, the vote usually takes place in early February so I cant see Bale winning ti on that basis.

The fact that the vote takes place before money time every season is just another reason the award lacks any real credibility.

Yeah actually you could be right. The papers are sent out in February. I think they have until early March to return them.

Shocked at the amount of pool supporters saying that the rest of the squad is so weak compared to United. I think it's accurate but you would have copped a lot of flak for saying this in other threads during the season. Suppose what suits an agenda/pov at a certain time.

No saying all of them would jump of it but a good few would take it as a dig if it wasnt pool fans sayin it.

RvP for me, unsurprisingly.

Suarez's exploits (this pains me btw) have been very good but he has been the main outlet for his team this season so while rvp gains space from having better players around him suarez gains from having more of the ball due to being this best threat by far.

Rvp has also performed better against the better defences while Suarez has been a bit flat track bully (important for the league but less poty than beating top teams)

Def Suarez for me because he has been brilliant in every game, the others haven't. It's that simple. But he won't win it, it will be bale or Rvp.
When Luis hasn't scored in games he has still been jncredible for the team, can't say the same for bale or Rvp

Didn't do much against United in either game. He's been great but not in every single game. Bale didn't score today and by all accounts he was very good. There's been games that RvP hasn't scored in but played very well too.

I have been calling Luis everything in the Liverpool/Chelsea match thread.

But Suarez is player of the year because he was the best player this year. He deserves it.

Wouldn't have picked him myself for the POTY, but he happened to hit top form around the time of the voting so fair play to him for that, I'd have RVP and Suarez ahead of him over the course of the season, but good luck to him, for a period there he was exceptional.

The young player of the year award is a joke though, surely he should be ineligible at his age. They should limit it to players 21 and under imo, I would've given it to Lukaku.

Thought Benteke deserved the YPOTY.

There was never going to be any arguements from me about POTY. Only three players really warranted it, Suarez, Bale and Van Persie and Suarez was never going to win it so Bale or Van Persie? Whatever. Both worthy.

If you win player of the year and are in the young player award nominations too then surely as the player of the year you'd have to be the best young player of the year. Always found it odd this is not always the case.
