Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not a Utd fan but if they go out here they have been mugged by the Ref.

Well that's that. We now need 2 with 10 men. All because of a ref. European refs have a lot of questions to answer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,800 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Nani knew he wasn't going to be the only player challenging for that ball, but he still went in with his foot at chest height, studs showing.

    Deserved red card.
The fact he stayed down and feigned injury made it pretty blatant that he knew he was in the wrong and was just trying to buy time in the hope that the referee would calm down.

Fergie should just go for it now.

Might as well loose by ten as one.

United have every right to feel robbed here tonight, that decision was appalling and completely decided the tie

I can't watch this anymore. The game has been completely destroyed since the red card. Ref clearly lived up to his name.

Not a Utd fan but if they go out here they have been mugged by the Ref.

Once it gets to the knockout stage in the champions league there is at least one game where the ref has a shocker that makes decisions that change the tie. Tonight is one of those nights.

Whatever the outcome, one thing is clear to me: Both of these sides are a shadow of the ones that met ten years ago.

Lads, why hasn't Rooney featured from the start?

    Rooney for Giggs?

Would like to see the Sending off again, didnt really see it first time, like to make up my own mind, looked a bit stupid from nani, but a yellow

Something will have to change with refereeing. That ref has just cost United millions of pounds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,802 ✭✭✭bluefinger

united should try to hang in here. think the referee will probably even the numbers up before the end.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,139 ✭✭✭Red Crow

That decision has completely ruined the game.

If UTD get one this is far from over.

Nani's was a yellow at most.
The decision ruined the game.Just as bad as when RVP was sent off for Arsenal a few years ago.
United looked comfortable up to that and i'm an Arsenal fan.

He deserved to be sent off.

He really didn't. High foot is a yellow card. Compare it to De Jong's in the world cup. Much, much wose and De jong got away with it.

Nani's was a yellow. Ref got it wrong.

de jong should have been sent off twice for that tackle.

I'd go so far to say the ref was looking for an excuse. I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories but Spanish teams getting decisions like this in the CL happens too often for my liking.

De Jong getting away with what should have been a blatant red has nothing to do with this.

That sending off has fúcked the players up. Still haven't given up hope but it's looking desperate.

    It was never a red.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35,514 ✭✭✭✭efb

It was yellow minimum- and could be seen as a red, ITV is beyond biased, it was harsh but not a ridiculous decision some are making out. And und should have tightened up. Plenty carry on with 10 men.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,296 ✭✭✭Frank Black

Ferguson doesn't seem to have the same influence with the European refs as with the domestic ones - must be frustrating for the Utd fans not to have a ref constantly giving them decisions.
