I dont know really - a piece of Bray died with the sale and the Duggan empire grows. No doubt it will be turned into another bland 'same ol same ol' bar like the rest of them along the seafront. What made the Harbour popular and special was it's uniqueness and, well ok then, it's grottyness. It was a niche pub and its gone.

Reminds me of the time Moe turned Moe's Tavern into a family diner.

Carl: "But, Moe, the dank! The DANK!!!"

    :o

Just come back from the H Bar, painted white outside, same on the inside, if not a bit 'fresher'. A lot of clearance work going around the lot.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Its Open again be it in the Middle of a Makeover Painted White and Skip loads of old Chairs etc outside, As its being my Boozer for over 10 Years it will be interesting to see when its all complete I think Duggan is Clever about he is not going to force away the Regulars if that happens and Bouncers tell me "Not Tonight" im afraid i will have to move Further afield the Days of the Local are Numbered Disco/Gastropub (Bouncer Hell) When you just want a Pint & to Socialise.

Greystones is Worse but thats another Story alltogether.

Surprised they're keeping it open during the refurb. Good job.

Is Colin still working there or has he taken an early retirement?

Anyone got pics of the new paint job?

I also think he's been kept on, which is a good thing.

More light inside, looks cleaner, too, new seatings here and there, the conservatory is almost empty of the old stuff. Quite a few middle aged, well dressed couples were in, checking out the place. We went in for a drink last night, to see what has changed. (Paid 11 euro something for a pint of Bulmers and an Erdinger, auch.) Only one coat of white paint on the outside wall, so the old navy paint is still detectable. Cats are still around, looking slightly bewildered, the poor things. A seafood restaurant (!) is opening up upstairs, the waitress told us. Traditional music is on 3 nights a week, live music on weekends... and the website is live again...

Was in today for a beer.

The toilets have been done up in the lounge.

They have installed a proper stage and sound system which look great. Finally a decent live music venue for local bands hopefully.

Outside looks better than the Bavaria sponsored blue.

Next to go is the conservatory I think.
