It wouldn't be the League of Ireland without a miserable rainy night to start it off!

But isnt the Dundalk away section uncovered?

At least it's a bit inland and slightly sheltered by the behemoth of a stand beside it

No chance. We look after our visitors here in Dundalk.

    StandOrielPark1.jpg

Visitors can pay to sit in our lovely rainproof stand. Worth every cent. (on the left hand side as you look at that picture).

Pissing rain all morning here in Dundalk. Hopefully it stops soon as there has been a bit of a buzz surrounding the game all week and the club are expecting a decent crowd. Would be hopeful of getting over 2000 as long as it stops raining.

We've completely changed our way of playing since Kenny's come in and the hoofball from last season has been banished. Richie Towell is going to be our main man this season. Looks a great player. Hopefully Derek Foran gets a good reception from the fans this evening. Was a hero for us last year.

Always thought that was for the Dundalk fans. Thought that terrace beside that was the only away fan section. Granted thats only from seeing clips on tv.

The Dundalk away section is uncovered, they keep about 40 seats in the stand for away fans who want to pony up extra.

Away supporters are split between the terrace and the stand. Will be room for probably about 100 Rovers supporters in the stand this evening. Most away fans stand in the terrace if it is dry.

Going to Pats v Drogs myself , my information is that Pats have a pretty solid defence but nothing going forward.
Expect Drogs to hit the ground running tonight. Prediction 0-2 Drogs.

'Karmann' and Volkswagen on the jersey. That sounds even more German than 'McAllisters' and Volkswagen. Be aware now :D

What were Limerick's attendances like last season?

normally 600-800 but weather permitting and a big game we got roughly 1000-1200. I think a fraction under 1500 showed up the night we got the trophy.

Given the ease of access to Thomond park and the comfort of it hopefully the crowds should be bigger. If it was a normal sunday for this first game we'd have a chance for a couple of thousand but I really think the clash with liverpool-spurs and united-chelsea is going to hit the crowds.

Ah **** it sure i'll be there anyway even if i'm alone, longest wait for a season to start theres ever been. Nearly there now though

What are you expecting Limerick to do this season?

I tend to feel they may struggle more then people think.

It's nice to have Limerick back though.

I think they'll struggle, right now at this moment i'd take avoiding relegation by one point because of a disgusting dodgy decision on the final day above in Derry.

My main reason for worry is last season we didnt know our best team until almost mid season but still won games because the standard was poor. Throw in a new manager and a lot of new faces and the chances of knowing our best team are slim and in the premier division we'll get punished for not having our best team out you know.

If we end up chasing teams from early in the season i'd worry big time, unfortunately a particularly vocal portion of our fans proved last season that they wont be the type to get behind the team regardless of results and if the players are put under pressure like that at home its not going to be easy.

With all that said and given that we haven't kicked a ball yet i'd fancy us to win the league comfortably playing a brand of football that Guardiola will only be wishing his Barca side were capable of. ;)

My start of the season gets put back until Friday because of the messing with the fixture. Had planned on doing an overnight in Limerick tonight and all.

Now, enough of this bonhomie and such and lets get back to the vitriol and sniping :)

How is the Dalymount pitch likely to hold up after the past couple of days rain?

****er should be ****ed out the club. Asked a Shels fan `outside` at full time.

Disgusting behaviour from a player making his debut for the club

5-0 tonight against SD, good way to start the season.

This could be said about Crowley as well, or wasn't he on his debut for Shels as well?

Seriously, there is a lack of discipline, imo...a serious one

Glad I didn't waste my money on a season ticket this year.

    Purr.......

Jaysis we looked good tonight, moved the ball forward very quickly. But as usual Drogs are feckin hard to beat. They played well in an entertaining game, no shots of note for them but worked well to contain us.

Dunno what trap thought of the pizza.

Great crowd too pleasantly shocked at it, reckon 2150 350ish drogs fans in there.

Delighted to get the 3 points, the whole Dempsey, Waters Byrne could work very well this season. A great start!

Absolutely disgraceful officiating at Dalymount tonight.
Bad form by Chris Lyons to throw himself to the ground to win the penalty after just leaving UCD, even worse was that the linesman fell for it and to top it off the referee gave Langtry a red despite it being nowhere near a goalscoring opportunity.
For our penalty, the Bohs keeper fouls McMillan 6 yards out and only gets a yellow.
The mind boggles. Thought we were the better side until the red card.
