Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    The yellow is sleet,supposedly.
That's the cold front lined across the Iom.
The shadow doesn't apply in this instance as such.

Thanks for that, when does the shadow apply?
Is the band in the form of a "streamer"?

Lads, remind me. When looking at the M2 buoy I believe you can get an indication of shower formation etc ?

What would you be looking for ?

The shadow doesn't apply when we have frontal precipitation. The band on the radar at the moment is a cold front not a streamer.

We usually look at it for temp and DP. Can't really tell anything about shower formation from it, that's what the radar and satellite images are for ;)

No,that band is a cold front, behind which as it clears, the flood gates(or should I say snow gates) open to the intensely cold air.
The isle of man shadow applies to shower formation.
The cold air is picking up moisture to form showers as it heads to the Iom but loses it over the island and has to start again, meaning no showrrs form as the remaining sea track is not long enough.

So if you are downwind of the Iom,it can be disappointing if it's snow showers you want.
The shower process should start to kick in this evening, overnight and during tomorrow.
    It's a 36hr window roughly.

Can you put you location in your profile please,go to user cp to do that thanks.

Is that rain over southern Ireland stopping the progression of the cold front moving south and as such delaying the snow ?

My folks are staying up with me in Dublin this weekend and were supposed to go home tomorrow. I've made them leave just a few minutes ago to get back down to Cork. I did this purely after reading this thread, as Met Eireann havent been on board up until now. I'm holding this thread responsible if it'll be a waste of time seeing my aged parents for one day less :D
