So close with casey. Nightmare of a bunker shot on the 2nd playoff hole thou. Still think Casey will win this year.

    Zach Johnson 40/1
    English 40/1

    Peterson 150/1

    FRL Oosthuizen 33\1, Mackenzie 200/1

Another place, but overall left little disappointed. Fancied Johnson to go close today. Ah well he owes me nothing.

Over in the US this week I've given two "shorter" players a chance and picked Zach Johnson and Brandt Snedeker. I think they will appreciate the sub 7,000 yards on offer here and go well.

In Germany I've gone for course specialist Thomas Bjorn who has two wins and a second at this venue previously and also I'm giving another chance to Wiesberger. He was disappointing in his home town Lyoness Open but I think after missing the cut in the US open, that he'll come back stronger this week

Thought I'd get at least a place from Johnson or Sned but two poor enough final rounds put paid to that. Nothing even remotely close in Europe

Thoughts on last weeks selection - Cabrera Bello shoots a 65 and 67 to lead going in to round 3 and then is one of only a few players to shoot OVER par in round 3. Pressure of leading ? I think so. The course didn't get any harder. He was playing beautifully. It's getting to the stage that I don't want to see my player near the lead until sunday afternoon.

In America this week I like Bill Haas at 28/1. He's in good form and will like the opportunity to shoot low this week. He has played well here before and I did think he would be a shorter price so I"m happy with 28's.

In Europe I'm going with Jaidee at 28/1. I backed him last year when he shot a savage final round to win in Scandinavia, I think. He is in good form and his attacking style could be suited here. Hopefully he is about 4 off the lead going in to Sunday's play. Jesus, am I really trying to pick 'come from behind' players ?

I know what it feels like but not many go into round 4 as leader and still win I've had 6 this year lead and lose

I'm on Casey again this week. Im scared not to back him at this stage as I would be beyond gutted to miss out after sticking with him. His price has dropped badly thou after last weekends playoff. Glad I have him backed for the open and pga already.
So im on Casey Holmes and Finau this wk. All ew. Giving Europe a skip

cabrera bello would break your heart. I've had him nearly every week and he just continues to find a way not to get over the line. worst was the Irish open at 210/1 :confused: and he bogeys the par 5 18th to miss out on a playoff.

Yeah they do. They do their outright selections on a Wednesday and then any "top american/European" etc or match bets and three balls on a Thursday. I think they are quite good. Jeremy Chapman is very good and so is Steve Palmer. Not everyone's cup of tea but I'd usually see what they are saying before I finalise any picks.

im on casey and tony finau in greenbrier

He's playing like David Donkey not Horsey!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 913 ✭✭✭tomaussie

After Haas missed the cut I had a bet on Pat Perez at 50/1.

I also had another small bet on Jaidee at 80/1 and did a EW double.

Since that bet Jaidee (he was on the 1st hole) has gone and birdied every hole since. Interesting.

Edit - ha ha. Then a bogey for good measure.

Had Webb Simpson (nightmare) and Cabrero Bello (place). Gonna have a small bet on Greenbrier this evening. Any suggestions from the wise boardsies, I rarely bet in running on a Sunday but odds are still quite good because of the close field
