Anybody else had a bet in the play off ?

I backed Kisner at 100/30 to show an overall profit for the week.

Put a few quid on hearn at 28s at about the halfway stage

This has been my worst season so far Golf betting wise. Just 2 winners and 4 placed. It may been different story had Berger or Grace won at Triple odd prices but my picks just aint doing it or going close. I still have great faith that Finau will get his maiden soon.

Last year was super year, could do no wrong, I'm sure I get break again soon. Determined to get winner sooner then later.

Normally July and August have been good to me so hope it changes :)

Massive pity that Rory is going to miss the British Open, was looking forward to himself and Speith going head to head. I had it in my mind to have my biggest bet of the year on Rory (provided it wasn't crazy windy) so I have probably saved myself some cash!

Looked at the calendar and its nice to realise I have zero research to do.

Zach Johnson in America at 10/1. Thankfully Speith turned up here to give a decent price for the field.

In Europe it's Phil Mickelson at 20/1. This is possibly the stand out price of the season so far.

I will also look at top 5 and top 10 doubles once all the firms are priced up.

Stan James currently 11/2 about Phil finishing top 5 and 5/2 for him to finish top 10. That 11/2 looks great to me.

Lowry and fowler in Scotland ew

Small ew on boo weekly in the John Deere.

cabrera bello would break your heart. I've had him nearly every week and he just continues to find a way not to get over the line. worst was the Irish open at 210/1 :confused: and he bogeys the par 5 18th to miss out on a playoff.

still back cabrera bello....got some e/w money for him last week.....
he back in there this week in his usual top 5. Normally blows it one of sat/sun, but maybe with the open championship place in the bag, he might cast off THE F**KING SHADOW THAT HAS COST ME A FORTUNE IN THE LAST 7 WEEKS.

    ok.....calm down....

is there any point backing anyone else. spieth will obviously win in a canter. hopefully there is a betting without market. its just ridiculous how consistent that kid is

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,875 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

    had zach backed also
made a right bollix of the 17th and unlucky on the 18th

backed mickie numerous times this year, gonna give him the swerve for
    a while now

spieth and dj backed for the open a while back 11/2+14s

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 913 ✭✭✭tomaussie

    Well done on backing Fowler.

I'm starting to like Speith a lot but he is no shoe-in for the Open as suggested above. A few players will have had much better recent preparation.

Gutted about Zach. He looked the winner until an assassination attempt on the 16th green. His 3rd shot on the final par 5 was shocking and cost him a victory - in my opinion.

  • Registered Users Posts: 100 ✭✭Trouble in P

Backed Kaymer at 30/1, Francesco Molinari at 100/1 and Danny Lee at 250/1 for the Open. Might back Speith, the 13/2 in Boylesports actually represents value in my opinion.

Scott and DJ this week. Hopefully it's a decent few days and the best players are fighting it out on sunday

Fairly straight forward for me this week.

Louis Oosthuizen at 22/1 (25/1 available with ladbrokes) represents the value. His second place finish at the recent US Open was enough to peak my interest. I normally turn a blind eye to any player producing one or two good rounds in a four day contest but Louis played very very well after a disastrous opening round.

He is back to where he won the Open in 2010. I say won - he cruised to victory. Recent form and course form is too much to ignore. He has the class and ability to win when he is in contention and that is a huge plus for me.

I'll have a small bet on Fowler too at 18/1. The price is gone because of lasts weeks victory. I had planned to back him here because he followed up his awful opening round of 79, in 2010, with 3 very good rounds to finish top 15.

My two outsiders will be Brooks Kopeka at 66/1 and Eddie Pepperell at 200/1.

I don't normally have so many bets but hey - its The Open.

Looking forward to Garcia missing the cut and to seeing which of the oldies does well and finishes top 10-20 after being top 5 for opening two days.

If Snedeker or Day win then I'll be found on the end of a rope on Monday morning.

Definitely think Oosthuizen will have a good crack at it. Vgood scores at St.Andrews over the years. -21 over the last four rounds he has played there and won on -19 in 2010.
Also going with Casey who is playing great stuff again. Fin T3 in 2010.
Final pick is Fowler. Again he placed well in '10, T7. That was after shooting a 1st round 79!

Think you may well be disappointed if you are looking forward to Garcia missing the cut. He finished 14th and 5th in '10 & '05.
No fear on the Snedeker or Day front. Stay safe all the same!

    p.s. i also went with Tiger. couldn't resist 35/1!

also a few quid on Snedeker and Fleetwood for me

Ladbrokes has started the Open "price war" by offering top prices on virtually all of the top 20 in the betting, including 7/1 Speith and 20/1 Fowler. 1/4 odds 6 places with them. Coral (and others) will definitely "escalate" the situation later today, especially since they are the ONLY bookie offering only 5 e/w places. The Racing Post is running an Open supplement tomorrow, which will be widely read by golf punters - and all the bookies will want to look like they are offering the best value!

Personally, I would not consider any golfer (even Rory/Tiger) at under 10/1 for The Open and my stand-out bet at the moment is Adam Scott at 25/1 e/w with Betfair Sportsbook. Great Open record and 1/4 odds 8 e/w places available. Also fancy Fowler 20/1 and Oosthuizen 25/1, both with Ladbrokes.
