Where would I get prices on the cut? Nothing on the PP app.

is there any point backing anyone else. spieth will obviously win in a canter.

    Lollers. He's 8.0 not 1.5.

also a few quid on Snedeker and Fleetwood for me

I backed Fleetwood by mistake. Inputted the digits for Brooks Koepka but made a mistake and received a ticket for Fleetwood !

Definitely think Oosthuizen will have a good crack at it. Vgood scores at St.Andrews over the years. -21 over the last four rounds he has played there and won on -19 in 2010.
Also going with Casey who is playing great stuff again. Fin T3 in 2010.
Final pick is Fowler. Again he placed well in '10, T7. That was after shooting a 1st round 79!

Think you may well be disappointed if you are looking forward to Garcia missing the cut. He finished 14th and 5th in '10 & '05.
No fear on the Snedeker or Day front. Stay safe all the same!

    p.s. i also went with Tiger. couldn't resist 35/1!

My interest in Garcia missing the cut is not financial.

I just don't like the guy at all. I've read so much about him over the years that I now take some pleasure when he plays poorly or just fails to win when he should. He is the only golfer that makes me feel this way.

Over the last couple of months I've been backing in the first round leader market.

Nothing insightful, just been backing my selections to be first round leader as it gives added incentive to watching the first round !

Does anybody do the same or do you change strategy for first round leader ?

Brooks Koepka has a few good rounds to his belt at St. Andrews so I'll be having a larger bet on him for first round leader than I normally would.

Depending on the odds of my selections and sometimes the draw I will often back them frl leader aswell.

I rarely back then e/w as you find the frl can often be a dead heat there isn't much value to be had e/w in my opinion

I have had more winners in frl this year than outright though

Poulter does the same to me. Serious conflict during RC. Legend :pac:
I challenge you to a duel!
If Poulter finishes ahead of Garcia i will follow join his social mejah fan club.
If Garcia finishes ahead of any 2 from your selection of Brooks Kopeka, Eddie Pepperell and your non selections Snedeker, Day and your fav Fleetwood! You then must join Garcia's social mejah fan club.
Do you accept the challenge? If so please pick your weapons of choice from the above...

Scott and DJ this week. Hopefully it's a decent few days and the best players are fighting it out on sunday

Adding Stenson and Kaymer, both have some decent recent form (Kaymar 4th Open de France, Stenson just very consistent) and were 3rd and 7th respectively in 2010 at this venue.

I can't see the Oost love at 22/1. Yes he won here last time but in his last 6 starts he has three missed cuts, a T69 and T73 to go along with the T2 at the US. If he doenst have that spectacular 2nd round and misses the cut, he would be 60s or 80s in my mind. Certainly not ruling him out but I'd much rather someone like Stenson at a similar price.

Strong fancy Garcia might do it at last and also backed Stenson.

Added Ryan moore and George coetzee E/w

I'm on Fleetwood, Lowry and Oosthuizen e/w.

    Good luck all :)

I've backed , Fleetwood, Fowler, Oosthuisen and Snedeker e/w with PP. Paying 7 places so does that include Tied 7? First time betting on golf. Long time golfing fan ðŸ˜
Good luck everyone, would love to see Harrington win though.

why all the love for Fleetwood? has he ever won anything. althyo I am backing a fair few European tour players. conditions could suit them more

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,512 ✭✭✭OffalyMedic

very little money to play with this week but back in every major.

    went with following

    outright: Rickie 10euro @ 14/1
    Place top 5: Oosthuizen 5euro @ 4/1
    Top 10 finish: Shane Lowry 5euro @ 10/3

possible winnings: just over 200 :P heres hoping rickie can win back to back weekends

Thinking of going with Stenson outright, Weisberger top Euro and Fleetwood top GB&I...

Plumped for Oosthuizen instead of Stenson in the end cos the latter had come in slightly and because of a nagging feeling he's another Colin Montgomerie, whereas Louis's a proven winner...

Dunno why I'm agonising over this cos everyone knows Speith is gonna win anyway!:P

After saying all week I couldn't be backing at single digits, Ladbrokes' 8/1 was enough to tempt me into backing Spieth.

Also went for Stenson at 22/1, Fleetwood and Schwartzel at 80/1 and Els at 150/1. 175/1 available on Els but laptop being a bit too maggoty to open new account to avail so just took the shorter price with the extra place. Will need him to come 7th to feel justified in that.

All each way. Would need the winner or two places from the five selections to make a profit. Even one place would be a loser. Not optimistic as have a terrible betting record at the Open. Just happy not to go overboard and end up backing ten.

Little rant: Tried to back Stenson with Betbright as they were joint top price and seven places. Bet denied. Queried it and was told traders are remaking the market and it would take two hours. At eight or nine on the eve of the Open. Nice timing, lads.

Fleetwood's insanely short. Over reaction to course form. I've Oosthuizen at 50s, but christ i'd want 33s+ and a lot of extra places to consider him now. He's crazy short also. Managed to get access to a friends BF Sportsbook yest when they pushed a few prices, so got Scott 25's., Bubba 40's, Schwartzel 80's and Palmer 125's. Theyre clearly using the Open as a loss leader with 8 places, albiet 25ew max. Daniel Burger at a huge price on the exchange and Sergio top 20 7/4. Anyway, for golf punters this is xmas, you won't get extra place value like this again til next April, so max out the stakes and selections :)

That has to be a tip in itself. I'll have whatever they'll allow on Koepka.

On the other hand, Fleetwood is bound to shoot an 80 now tomorrow and I've already backed him.

I do have lots of love for Fleetwood now but it's purely accidental.

Third time lucky - I managed to back Koepka to win outright !!!
