Matsuyama to win W/O Day looks a great price @7/4 to me

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,559 ✭✭✭blue note

For the Irish open I'm thinking

Lowry and Westwood to win at 20 and 30 to 1.

And Harrington and colsearts each way at 70 and 80 to 1.

    20e bet total. Any thoughts?

Only a handful of books are offering 6pl (1/4), best to stick with these,
some of these with the option of just 5pl available if going 'w/o Rory',
at similar odds and places to others but without this exclusion.

Another market that caught my eye is to place in the 'top20'!
There are 60 players available at double digits (10-40) on Sky,
could be some value to be had there, all within an element of safety.
Obviously there will be more than 20 at T20 but with shared/reduced prices.

    AT&T Byron Nelson 2016 - Charl Schwartzel 25/1 & Marc Leishman 33/1

Pieters 55/1 €5 ew Weisberger 40/1 Irish open, two guys who can hit it as the course is playing long.

G Woodland 50/1 Charles Howell 60/1 AT and T a fiver ew the 4 of them with PP 1/5 7 places.

4 €2 ew doubles on the 4 players, will be away with a group for the weekend, will see a good bit of the golf and hope my selections give me a bit of a run for my 56 euro staked.

Play suspended due to a 'dangerous situation' it says on the europeantour.com leaderboard.
    - Hopefully it's just lighting, not a 'sharknado storm' or pack of wolves let loose on the course.

Always keen to pick off a value late climber, guess Dredge, Bradley -4 on 10th,
currently @17 may be worth adding to the accumulator as a wildcard.

Back to the drawing board this week

    Gone for:

    Lyoness Open 2016 - Richie Ramsay 25/1 & Gregory Bourdy 16/1

    St Jude Classic 2016 - Gary Woodland 22/1 & Harris English 22/1

    Each way doubles

    Good luck all

Bjorn & horsey merited consideration in the Lyoness but chose to go safe / lower odds this week

US Open - will probably back 4 or 5 guys.

Matsuyama and Kuchar(great form) for me. Getting sick of backing DJ in these majors. Last weekend sums the guy up - shoots 73 on the saturday and then(when he's played himself out of the tournament) shoots 63 and finishes well on the sunday.

The greens here are supposed to be crazy - Mickelson is performing well on the greens so may add him in too.

Cabrera (winner here in '07) at 500/1?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,946 ✭✭✭✭PopePalpatine

He's 9/2 to finish in the top 20 and 11/4 to be the top Spaniard, I would have thought he'd be a decent price to make the cut but there's no sign of that market.

    Donald 150/1
    Summerhays 250/1
    Glover 300/1

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭abarkie

Gone for Mickleson (30/1) and D Lee (125/1)

Could be a war of attrition this week

Im on Matsuyama, aphinbarnrat and reed.

Something small on Ogilvy, and of course Shane as well.

Love to see Phil win it though.

I'm on Paul casey and Phil.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,563 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

    Randomly on:
    Branden Grace @ 50/1
    Marc Leishman @ 80/1
    Martin Kaymer @ 66/1
    Matt Kuchar @ 40/1

Should have gone with Matt Fitzpatrick to make it a clean sweep of MAs:P

finally dustin gets over the line. surely more majors to follow now that he's got that off his back. the usga certainly made things hard for him on that back nine i'm sure it will make the win even sweeter.

hard luck to shane he played some great golf all week just too many poor shots and bad luck lipouts today. i'm sure he will also take a lot from it. great tournament before the shambles on the back 9, hopefully it won't happen again.

Now dustin got over the line that will not be his last major anyone who wins at oakmount has won the open in the same year

I'd definitely make him favourite for the Open now. He's got the monkey off his back by finally getting a win, consistently has done well at the majors over the past few seasons, bang in form and the way he hits the ball he could actually make a mockery of an Open course if the weather is fairly benign.

I had him for the US at 16/1 but I'd be delighted with anything around 10s for the Open to be honest.

I think Shane Lowry will be a very good shout for the Open

Rory McIlroy quits the Rio Olympics amid fears over deadly Zika virus in Brazil. Another 4yr wait for the gold.

Could be worse, the Olympics could have been set for Venezuela, which is currently undergoing collapse/shutdown of sorts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,704 ✭✭✭zimmermania

Colsaerts 40/1 Boyles BMW,€20 ew and B Steele 33/1 €10 ew Quicken Loans.
Steele has a bit of form on the course and with 4 short par 5s in Germany Colsaerts should be hitting short irons for his 2nd shots to set up a few eagle chances.
