He's come out again about how much he loves links golf, I reckon this is the major he wants more than any.

yeah he might want it too much,to me he's a player still trying to sort out his swing changes.
My big e/w bet this year is Furyk @66/1 7 places with PP,4th here in 2006,in fairness he came into that week playing super.
Not setting the world alight at the mo but I think that price is too big,the only thing that would put me off would be big winds or rain.

Mea culpa, had a couple of very small bets to amuse me when watching the golf and had no intention whatsoever of aftertiming. There was a long way to go and Harman had blown a few opportunities in the last few weeks and i was only asking to see if others thought he might choke again.I am happy he did not.

I hope it's not the same guy that was going to help you put pics up nearly 3 years ago that never arrived. Or anytime since then when you were going to post up pics.

This week I will be mostly backing Matt Kuchar.

I'm not his biggest fan but I think he is well rested, is in good enough form to contest and if the wind gets up then his lower ball flight could be a big plus. He has done only ok recently in the Open but is improving and I think his preparation means he believes he can win. Two weeks off hopefully means he is trying to peak and he'll be ready to rock.

A few years ago I thought that Kuchar, Dustin Johnson, Hunter Mahan and Nick Watney would win a few majors between them but currently you could only have Kuchar or DJ.

For that reason I'll stick to my guns and back Kuchar at 40/1 to win with a smaller bet on DJ at 33's.

DJ has a good record at the Open and he should be my main bet but Kuchar impressed me during the recent US Open and I made my decision then to back him for the Open.

If Argentina had of won the World Cup then this would be my biggest golf stake for quite some time but as it happens it'll be fun stakes. It's going to take me a few days to get over the Argies losing !

    MOD:

    Found someone yet?

If you are not able to upload a pic from phone or whatever, just make sure you don't after time.

    Probably easier.

    Open Championship:

    1) Henrik Stenson @ 18/1
    2) Adam Scott @ 18/1
    3) Martin Kaymer @ 25/1
    4) Phil Mickelson @ 25/1
    5) Ernie Els @ 100/1

Torn between Kaymer or Scott, will think about it over some lunch.

Some E.W bets before I pick some big boys!

    Furyk 66/1
    Hoey 200/1
    R.Fisher 200/1

All on Betfair sportsbook they're paying out top 8.

Times like this really have me torn when it comes to golf betting which would people prefer?

    45/1 and 8 places or 55/1 and 6 places
    100/1 and 8 places or 125/1 and 7 places
    200/1 and 8 places or 250/1 and 7 places

I think I know which I will go with but looking to see if anyone has any views on this

I always pick the better price over places.

I generally would but am particularly torn with there being 2 places difference between the 45/1 and the 55/1

29th June: Quicken Loans National, 74, 68, 68, 70. First play-off hole he puts a ball in the water and loses to Justin Rose.
6th July: 35th in The Greenbriar Classic, 73,67,67,69, 12 shots behind the winner.
13th July: 13th in the John Deere Classic, 73,67,64,66. He started the tournament with 3,9 against par of 5,4.

Ranked number one in driving on PGA TOUR.com today. He has never played in The Open, never been to Europe.

Shawn Stefani, 650s on Betfair, might be a good trading opportunity.

My record in the Majors is pretty decent down the years especially the Masters and PGA, but without question I have made a loss on The Open down last decade

Love the tournament, but from betting perspective I have only had 1 winner in Harrington 2008 and otherwise not a sniff.(hence i dont back in Europe often:pac:)

My 1 claim to fame is that I actually got to play this course 4 years ago in a July day. I was lucky enough to play some of best links in Ireland like Ballybunion, Waterville, Tralee, Kinsale, Portmarnock, but I have to say my experience is that its a pretty boring course and not many holes stood out. Was disappointed.

I remember Tiger Woods was as high as 7/1 to win this back in 2006 when usually he was going off between Evens to 5/2. Still to this day I regret not backing him at what now seems a huge price.

    Anyway the bets

Graeme Mcdowell is my main bet this week at 30/1 ew. He is one of the best thinkers in the game. The course this week is about trying to avoid fairway bunkers and a thinking man like Macdowell should go close. When he won US Open he won 2 weeks before and missed tournament the week before so I hope this trend continues.

Dustin Johnson(48 win and place) is bit of all rounder and in 2011 came close enough to winning. I think its only matter of time before he wins major. His record last 4 years is 2-14-9-32 so he has the game and I think he has come on a gear in past year even if he should of won couple more titles in US.

Brandt Snedeker 70 win and place is another who loves it around Links. Just reading his thoughts on Golf mag last week and his positivity stood out even though so many will say good things he has followed it up with some very good results past couple of years. Can hit the ball low too which is plus.

Martin Kaymer 25/1 ew. Won the US Open at a canter and his low ball flight should see him go very close again. he has an excellent record on similar courses, including having both won 2010 and been runner-up 2008 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. His confidence should be at all time high too.

Finally went with 2 outsiders in Russell Henley 650 win and place, plus Ryan Moore at 150 win and place. I just could not ignore Henley price for guy who been solid in States and has won and Moore caught eye last week at John Deere. Just going with them based on value.

GL all and enjoy the Golf.

If Snedeker and Dustin win I might just cry and give up golf betting after finally deserting them this week

This weeks bets and possibly my last, I was all set to just let the thread die as I had lost interest and was gona go a different way with the betting such as more low stakes multiples that I just hadnt got the interest in logging but having put in the research this week I have kinda reconsidered as I had the time to do it and actually enjoyed it.
