Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Steaua Bucharest have lost only five of their previous 20 European home games. In contrast, Chelsea have managed just four wins in their last 12 away ties in Europe.

Chelsea are ithout Ba, Moses and Ramires for tonights game.

Probable Chelsea team, factoring in Utd at the weekend :

    Cech
    Azp Ivan Terry Bertrand
    Mikel Lamps
    Oscar Yossi Marin
    Torres

Ake could play a part at the back next to JT with either Ivan being dropped or moved to RB n palce of Azp.

I'd take a draw right now if we could with Utd at the weekend getting through this game without any fuss and no injuries could be wishful thinking.

I can see Steaua drawing as well, with Chelsea finishing the job at Stamford Bridge.

My Romanian colleague is up for it, been talking about it for days on end now :D

Be very interesting to see how Chelsea perform tonight.

    Has Rafa's moment arrived?

Will the fans (no not the Liverpool ones) get behind him :D

The Guardian has the team as:

Chelsea (4-2-3-1; possible): Cech; Azpilicueta, Cahill, Terry, Bertrand; Mikel, David Luiz; Oscar, Benayoun, Hazard; Torres.

Sad to say, but with Nando refusing to tap a ball into the net unless it's presented to him on a silver platter with a bow on it, does that line-up look a little goal shy?

Oscar or Hazard I can see getting a goal if they're in the mood, and that's about it. Perhaps that line up for the first half and in the second half bring on Lamps to supply the passes and Mata to put the fear of God into the opposition.

I'll take one-nil (Oscar is on fire in Europe); Terry should make us much more solid at the back.

The worse part about Ba being cup tied is that both strikers know that it's Ba that's going to start Sunday, cant imagine it's good for your confidence but nonetheless Torres should try and impress andtry force his way into Rafas starting XI for Sunday.

Its listed at the moment on Setanta sports ..

Setanta's site itself says "Alan Pardew's Newcastle make the trip to the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow to face Anzhi - plus second-half coverage of Steaua v Chelsea from Bucharest's National Arena."

    http://www.setanta.com/ie/tv-listings/

So best option looks like a streamed first half and then over to the telly for the second.

No Champion said it was a home game, but they're playing this game in the national stadium coz of the demand.

It's like deja vu all over again. This is the Sparta Prague tie all over. Paint drying would be more interesting and gripping... Jesus.

Jon Champion and Craig Burley arent helping at all, although saying that there's nothing positive in the game to get worked up about. :(

Stupid from Bertrand but the cross shouldnt have came in.

Maybe this will wake Chelsea up, t'fúck. Jesus. Soft enough peno tho.

    Great penalty as well.

We need to wake up now and get an away goal.

    FFS

Soft one for me, great ball in!

If that was a penalty it was also a red.

    1-0

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

It's the kick up the collective hole all the Chelsea players need.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,829 ✭✭✭✭Panthro

No more a penalty now that the back end of me arsend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I wonder was it the ref or the guy behind the goal that gave the peno?

We need Mata on soon after the 2nd half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,996 ✭✭✭Duck Soup

If you're going to pick up £100,000 a week, staying awake for 90 minutes should be a minimum requirement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Torres is winning a fair share of headers and aerial battles but nobody is running behind him.

The players need to wake up very quickly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,852 ✭✭✭homer simpson

What happened from the kick off sums of the Chelsea player / management (delete as you want) approach to the Europa league, Hoof the ball to the opposing keeper.

They play in the national stadium, that's their home ground...

Sure it wasn't Dinamo or Rapid Bucarest ? ;)

Weak shot by Benny. Should have scored.
