Fcuk sake, saw the same thing on my Facebook. Wouldn't be going if Araya wasn't playing. Unfortunately don't see Lombardo coming back, see some of his PHILM Posters and they are advertising him as "Dave Lombardo Ex-Slayer"

Maybe the Araya thing is true and the other three are breaking away to start their own band. Sans King.

Are you taking the metalsucks article seriously?

Well I'm certainly not taking Slayer seriously anymore.

And the Newsted, King, Holte, Dette band would also be worth hearing.

Given the effort that Newsted has put into his new band and the fact that he wants to be his own man i see no way he's join any established band. He's fought long and hard to leave the Metallica shadow and do what he wants to do,the last thing he'd want to do is get caught up in the limelight of a major metal act.(Not that any of this is real but it's fun to speculate!).

Not sure how long Tom has left. He adapted his stage posture following surgery, still strange to see him not bang like a motherfcuker. I'd hate to see them limp on in the future with half an original line up and a frontman who's struggling. They've a lot of respect and goodwill amongst metal fans, better to bow out at the top imo.

not so sure he will be fit for june and wtf jason newsted !!! what a pile of balls.
how can he repalce tom araya , really dont think anyone can , i hope thats not true .

    http://www.slayer.net/us/news/back-surgery-scheduled-slayers-tom-araya-bands-tour-plans-cancelled-through-april

This is seriously bizarre. It's starting to look like I've made a mistake by getting a ticket...

All though I would kinda be interested in seeing Newsted. But seriously, of all the members to be left, Kerry King...

Don't worry, we are pretty certain it was just an April Fool's day joke :pac:

To be fair, we didn't see it until 3+ days after April Fools day, and I know I don't always look at the date on articles I read on the net :pac:

yeah such a big facet of Slayer was his intense headbanging, and when I see him up there its all he wants to really do but a steel plate is kinda hindering that and so they lose a lot of impact in the live setting.

Was going to post in the Jeff thread but think its best to post here and leave that for memories and condolances etc.

But... what are peoples thoughts on the gig next month? Do you think it'll go ahead?

I have my doubts tbh. Think it almost should be cancelled. I know Jeff hadn't toured in 2 years or so but he was still a founding member of Slayer.... not sure what is going to happen tbh.

They could tour the circuit one more time, give people a farewell opportunity and also as a tribute to him. and leave it at that, seems like a real opportunity to sign off most appropriately

and get lombardo back behind the kit in honouring him, the fairytale ending!! the logical conclusion.

Not sure where logical comes in though when we speak of Kerry King.

in continuing on in cruise control for the cash? scary prospect!

something ruthless bout how his flicks his pleck at the crowd and storms off.... is as if he says pocket my pick; whist I pick your pocket!!!

They have like 50 dates to fulfill this year  I think they will continue as is.

and a new album. and maybe some posthumous stuff, to justify it. he may have wrote some stuff whilst dyin.. maybe his sickest stuff yet.

I think Kerry said that he was writing in that long statement that was released around a year back about the whole spider bite situation. The infection from it caused some problems with the motor neurons in his arm and it caused the armto lose a bit of power in his muscles, slowing him down a bit. But after they got the infection under control he started back practicing and trying to build up his speed and coordination again, apparently he was quite a ways on with it and practiced pretty much whenever he could. It's very sad really, because it seems like he was hell bent on getting back playing again and back touring with Slayer.

Not sure that KK does fairytales tbh. It's hard to know what will happen. We've no idea how bad Tom and KK have taken Jeffs death, they could just decide that it's all over(i think Tom may feel like this) or go out for one last money run and milk it for what it's worth(the KK way).

A lot of fans will feel aggrieved if they continue to tour but many will welcome the opportunity to honour Hannemanns legacy. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I'm not surprised they haven't cancelled these particular dates but I think they should just conclude Slayer as soon as and say goodbye

And get Dave back for the last dates, don't end it like this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭Somnus

It's still pretty soon, the dates might still get cancelled yet. Part of me feels it'd only be right, but at the same time they could go on if they think that's what he'd want/as a tribute.

Lombardo's band 'Philm' played Eindhoven last week, some genius decided to record the whole gig on 'Drum-Cam'

    Un fcukin believable

Note posted by Slayer on Twitter re: Euro dates.
NOTE FROM TOM AND KERRY TO UK/EURO FANS:

"We know that our fans everywhere are hurting for the loss of Jeff just as we are.
We want to let you all know that when we come to Europe this summer in June, July and August, we'll ALL be making noise together for our brother and dear friend Jeff... We'll See you then!"

Glad to hear that they'll still do the tour. Whether it will be a swansong for the band though remains to be seen. I'm looking forward to seeing them though.

I think it'll be a fairly emotionally charged night(s) given Jeffs death. It's probably the best way for the fans to show how they feel about the passing of a metal icon.

Absolutely. Which begs the question, will the band reunite with Dave for the tour?
