I was wondering what size of suitcase/duffel bag people are bringing over or ones who are already made the trip over there what they used in terms of litre size. I was thinking of a 120litre duffel suitcase.

You're allowed a carry on suitcase (get a 20-22inch wheelie one) and one personal item (schoolback/laptop bag) with you for transatlantic flights. You should be able to jam a load more stuff into those 2 if you find yourself running low on space

good advice but I was thinking more in line of checked luggage.

varies from airline to airline but the max is usually 23kg for 1 bag per person for checked baggage in economy.
Not sure on dimensions, but i see something on aer lingus's site that dimensions must be less than 158cm (width+length+height).
As most if not all the airlines code-share i think the restrictions are the same across the board.

I usually get away with having a big suitcase (not sure of the weight) checked in,and then a large sports bag and a schoolbag with my laptop and stuff, that's with air canada.

just thought I would post this link to a bag I brought online from the UK

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Wheeled-Holdall-Travel-Luggage-Suitcase-bag-Super-light-only-2-1kgs-94-L-/261180834544?pt=UK_Tickets_Travel_Luggage_CA&var=&hash=item826dba6dea

you have to contact the seller beforehand about postage to Ireland which cost me £9/€10.71 and the bag cost me £15.99/€19 so it works out at €30 depending on the exchange rate.

The bag itself is a good size and should hold all my stuff and for the price you can't complain also it is pretty light at 2.1kgs which should save on baggage allowance.
