Great work dfbemt ! Its great to have all that info in one place . I have attached a spreadsheet to keep track every 2 weeks of what the Supermarkets are offering and also to make it easier to see who is offering best value consistenly week to week ( based on your price comparison)

Anyone who uses excel and knows how to use autofilter should find this useful. You can filter on product type or by Supermarket etc

Eg if you filter on carrots you can easily see that 2 weeks ago Supervalu and Eurospar were charging 67c and 89c for 750gm of carrots whereas this period Tesco are twice the price of Lidl for Carrots.

1kg of carrots is 59c in Lidl compared to €1.18 ( 2 x 500gms) in Tesco

Carrot and Ginger soup:
Celery head: 59c
Onions, about .5kg: 25c
1.5 KG carrots: 90c
Piece of fresh ginger root: 20c
Dash of oil, salt, pepper, 1-2 stock cubes: 26c
Big saucepan. Fry onions, celery in saucepan. Add in carrots and ginger and 2 liters of stock (more or less for thinner thicker soup). Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for an hour or more. Blend.
Total cost: €2.20 – makes about 10 to 12 portions of a delicious , healthy creamy soup.)

Sounds delicious ! My Mam ( RIP) years ago used to make a very similar soup. She used to fry red peppers as a base in butter ( Great for any type of soup) and she always made home made stock from chicken carcass.

Careful on Tesco "bargains" as Carrots are always 99c for 1kg in Aldi (and I think Lidl) and Limes are always 79c in Aldi also.
