Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

just when i thought we couldnt waste any more money (one million.one hundred thousand being wasted on foothpaths.the ones that are there arent down 15years)
the council have now decided that the nearest they can source seat backs for the prom is CHINA..!""come on...whoever is responsible for this decision should step down and give their job to someone with competent and with more common sense..disgraceful.!!!

Actually, the material coming from China is costing SFA compared to material available here and the UK. Its a sure sign of the times that actually importing marble, granite, iron work, tiles, and raw materials in general is so much cheaper than purchasing it locally in Ireland.

I have no doubt that sourcing the materials in China is working out a lot cheaper than buying anywhere in Europe at the moment, you can't beat the Chinese for mass-producing just about anything.

Yes the chinese can counteirfeit just about anything, from eggs to engine and avation components.you end up with inferior quality ,,also the powers that be are constantly whinging about how important it is too shop local....not to go over the border at xmas and in this case support bray retailers...bit two. Faced sourcing materials in china then innit?more the million one hundred tthousand that is crossing palms for a pavement refurbe thas only been down fifteen years..houses boarded up all over the town is to me more important than boosting the chinese economy.thats just me tho.people before paths.

Can't wait to see the seat backs put in on the seafront.

They should be spending all that money before the town council comes to an end next year.

As for the paths, the red brick ones look very shabby now... and our locals could help out by not spitting chewing gum on the new ones.

Looking forward to seeing the town look good again.

What exactly is happening? Are they recreating the old victorian wrought Iron seat backs all along the prom?? Or are they putting in some new designs?

Also the thread title could be a little more descriptive.

Yes, a facelift will help will but we need an economic boost to get things moving again. I would suggest some of the surplus money should be used to reduce rates to help the retail sector. Not much point having fancy paving leading to derelict shops.
As for sourcing materials from China I do recall a plea last year to shop local and not spend in Carrickmines. How local can you get?
Not sure if it was the Bray Chamber of Commerce or the Council.

Chewing gum on the paving is a huge problem in most towns. What happened to the proposal to tax gum and use the proceeds to clean up the residue? I think education is the final answer but I cannot see this happening anytime soon.
