Long-standing disco and house purveyors Dowtownsounds make a welcome return to Dublin Dancefloors to celebrate the release of their 'Downtownsounds Classics' series, which will catalogue the big tunes from the long running Dublin club night and will be released on Dublin label, Fatty Fatty Phongraphics.

They’ll be celebrating the release of ‘Volume 1’ - which features Daniel Wang and Brennan Green's epic mix of Block 16's 'Electrokution’ - when they team up with Nightflight and Fatty Fatty to bring a party to The Grand Social on Saturday April 20, featuring an Irish debut live performance from Chicago house music pioneers, Virgo Four.

Virgo Four's deep, emotional and melodic take on Chicago house has once again risen to prominence since their self titled debut album for Trax Records was reissued by Dutch label Rush Hour in 2010. It has been hailed in many quarters as 'The Greatest House LP Ever Made'. The duo followed that up with 'Resurrection' in 2011, a collection of 30 unreleased tracks they recorded after they slipped into obscurity in the early 90's. Dancefloor bomb of 2011, ‘It’s a Crime’ features on this collection and following a remix from modern hero Caribou, Virgo Four have been put firmly on the radar of a new audience, many of whom were not even born when the track was first written.

Their live shows are rare but have taken them to the four corners of the globe since their Lazarus like return, and they have played in clubs as far flung as Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Melbourne and San Francisco, to name a few.

You can expect some more dancefloor madness from the boys at Fatty Fatty and Downtownsounds later this year, with another collaboration in the offing with Detroit legend Terrence Parker. The ‘Downtownsounds Classics’ series will also pick up a head of steam with reissues from the likes of Mr. Parker himself, Ashley Beedle, Studio 54 legend Nicky Siano and avant garde disco auteur Arthur Russell, all due out on loud cut 12 inch vinyl for the audiophiles, with a digital release also on the cards.
