Broadband only packages - impact on phone?

There are a few broadband only packages going round at the moment e.g. Vodafone and Magnet. What happens to your landline in those cases - no phone capability at all or just no outgoing calls?

The line is still active, as it has to be for the broadband. You can make and receive calls, but would be charged for each outgoing call. Incoming calls are free.

Line rental is included in the cost of the package. I have Vodafone Simply Broadband and don't even own a handset, but if I know I could use the landline if I wanted to.
