Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Children with same name on Baptism records

I have noticed in my family research that sometimes, a family has a child with the same name.

For example a child named John was born to his parents M& K in 1861.

In 1867, another child named John was born to the same parents.

For another family, I see Michael is also listed twice.

What is the reason for this? Would they name a stillborn child the same name?

that is just what they did years ago. there was 2 jim,s and 2 michael,s in my dads family. when 1 died they called another baby the same name, that was back in the 1920,s and 1930,s.

Yep, I found that too back in the 19th cent. Confusing until you confirm the first child's death.
