so true, why is it that whenever temperatures are at their coldest, showers are so much less frequent. The minute of course it gets milder again, you can be sure the rain will arrive. Grrrrrr

Precipitation is forecast to pick up in the North East/East later on and spread slowly southwards, but not too far south by the looks of things.

Spare a thought for your south kildare brethren who have been sitting a measly amount of miles south of the precip band since 9am this morning!

    Frustrating.

Running a golf society outing tomorrow afternoon in Hollywoodlakes!

Will I need to pack a few Orange or Green Golf Balls or is likely to be a snowfest ?

I see band of ppn moving towards Dublin now, from the Irish Sea, but from the SE this time (moving NW or W now by the looks of it). DP at M2 bouy is 0.5c atm.

Will see soon what that has to offer!

    2.8c DP 2.2c here now.

You should see a doctor about that. Could be serious.

Would have paid to have had this slack flow with the colder uppers last week, would have been shoveling snow at this stage. Hope that tonight's low will have a placement that allows ppn all along the E coast but its more of a NE affair I think

12z GFS now more in line with the ECM with no warm up or anything close to double figure temps (for these parts anyway) for the foreseeable.

Could be a record breaking March?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭John.Icy

GEM is ridiculous for next week, -10 uppers covering almost the whole country. Crazy contrast to last March.

How many outfits does Jean go through in a day ? :)

That band of showers moving across the Irish sea looks like it will drop on Dublin.

Monthly average currently running at 4.8 here , well below the mean of 7.6.
To put that in perspective, the January average is 6.0.
So far March has been the coldest month of the year for here, which must be a pretty rare event.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Mean here of 4.3c so far this month.

Tell us what's coming off the Irish Sea SC? :) Rain no doubt at this stage.

    light rain here now:(
still patchy snow and slush all over garden, thaw has increased but tbh I thought the snow would be long melted by now, hasnt snowed here since midday. Might get a dusting later in the night if it's cold enough.

If it keeps going it will indeed be one of the coldest Marches for a few decades at least and stark contrast to recent ones. Still can't help thinking how much better all this would have been in Jan/Feb but no point in flogging that dead horse. I'm actually more interested in what the implication of this month will be for the coming summer - would be nice to think that it might signal a break in a long run of disappointing efforts!!

3.0c here in Laytown. Will report any Meath coast activity. Slush here this morning but a winter wonderland 1km inland! Fingers crossed for temps to get down.

If it freezes later on and lashes snow will it stick
    Is there that possibility?

Even with the wet ground, if it's cold enough it'll stick.

Really strange here all day. Lots of heavy showers of snow (with thunder!!) at about 1.30 for an hour or so. Nothing much since except light sleet/ rain mixture. Clouds weird bubbling over the top of three rock
