Can see more of these snow and graupel showers for much of today, possibly intensifying in the evening. Pity that the flow here is quite strong, would definitely have gotten an inch or so if the wind had been slack

Snowing lightly here now in south west Laois...Pleasantly surprised as i was expecting these showers to fizzle out by the time they got this far inland..Interesting day ahead:)

Oh Wicklow mountains...how you are ruining my day.

I'm off for the day, hopefully winds turn more North of East later.

Good luck to everyone in the firing line. I despise you all. :D

Any guesses as to how long convection and dp's will last?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Still no sign of a breakdown to mild on the models

How about this from the UKM for April 1st?

    Bizarre.

Any guesses as to how long convection and dp's will last?

There will be convection today, tonight and tomorrow and maybe thursday. Meath/Louth/N Dublin best placed with an E wind but showers possible all down the E Coast obviously. Dew points well below zero, problem is getting prolonged showers, if the wind dies down this will become more likely.

Interesting TAF from Dublin Airport this morning :-

    TAF AMD EIDW 260934Z 2609/2706 08014KT 9999 FEW012 BKN020
    TEMPO 2609/2613 08015G25KT 2000 -SHSN -SHGS SCT006 BKN018
    TEMPO 2613/2706 4000 -SHSN -SHGS SCT006 BKN018

No shift in wind in the forecast period (9AM to 6AM tomorrow) and visibility increasing from 13:00 this afternoon - to me that sounds like they are not expecting the showers to get any heavier

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/
