Proper blizzard here where I am. Yes we've had 3+ hours of strong snow with winds gusting more than 35mph.

Oh no wait. We just had a snow shower with no accumulation.

Heavy snow shower in Sandyford now. Not sticking though

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,431 ✭✭✭✭Supercell

Snowfall's intensity is determined by visibility. When the visibility is over 1 kilometer (0.62 mi), snow is considered light. Moderate snow describes snowfall with visibility restrictions between 0.5 and 1 km. Heavy snowfall describes conditions when visibility is less than 0.5 km

I seriously doubt if anyone has seen heavy snow yet unless at decent elevation close to the east coast, moderate at best, properly mostly light.
FWIW here in Loughlinstown one shower so far came close to moderate briefly.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Very heavy snow the past 15 mins in Dublin 8. Easing off a bit now. Will be interesting come the evening if this keeps going. Showers are heavier today than I expected but still not sustained enough to stick.

    Perhaps that might change later

RH seems a bit low! Although air is probably getting drier the more inland you go! RH here @ 78% and well into the 70's and 80's across the rest of the North Kildare Stations

Gardai have withdrawn from a high speed chase covering the entire east coast . The suspects in a White high powered Antrim registered Nissan Skyline were reportedly drifting all morning .

Detective Nimbostratus from the met division said they had snowidea what was going on but evidence points to a few blowins possibly from the IOM.

Radar footage is a very cloudy and will be scrutinised by a Cranium expert . However but the outlook is dark and bleak for the whole of Ireland for at least a week .

Any result will be hailed as a success as the forces graupel with this flakey situation. Gardai also said this could develop in a sticky situation in the next day or so and advised all to be on the lookout .. .especially near lamp posts.
