, Droopys Jet, unfortunately, faces quite a spell on the sidelines.

The dog's trainer Fraser Black had mapped out a programme starting with potential challenges for the Easter Cup and the abbreviated Scottish Derby and then a crack at the English Derby for the son of Slip The Lark and Droopys Mo.

But his first preparatory trial at Shelbourne last week saw him pick up what could well be a career-threatening injury.

Black said: "He did his TFL muscle and veterinary advice is that he will be off for six to eight weeks. We'll just have to wait and see how he progresses, but we have fingers crossed that he recovers fully and is able to go for the Champion Stakes and the Irish Derby."

Last season Droopys Jet won the Joe Dunne Memorial, the Townviewfood.com Champion Stakes and the Night of Stars 550.

Let's hope he returns in the same form as made him such a popular performer last year.
