Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Accidental damage help

I don't know if anyone can advise me here. Dh was away on business, was in the bathroom washing his hands, got sidetracked by the phone and left the tap running, not on full and the drainplug was not in. He completely forgot about it and it was running away all night but the drain was obviously blocked/slow to drain/partially blocked - I don't know really, it just wasn't draining, so the water overflowed and damaged the carpet in the bedroom. He reported it straight away. The hotel manager just rang him there to say he owes them €2k!!! This has only just happened so I don't know where he is pulling that figure from. Can anyone offer me advise at the whether or not we are liable for the damage at all/in part. I appreciate dh left the tap run, however, it was an accident, their plughole/drain system/overflow system was defective, which was to blame also. Would this not fall under accidental damage on the hotels insurance policy? Any advice/opinions would be appreciated.

Even if the hotel's insurance covers the flood the insurers can pursue recovery from the person who caused the flood.
The guest should notify this matter his public liability insurers and NOT engage with the hotel any further.
