The very cold theme continues. Today's 12Z ECM at +96. Even -10 uppers reaching into parts of the SE!

I wonder why its so mild, -2 and-3c, in northern Sweden and Finland with the Arctic high situated where it is? It can't be a toppler?

just looking at the charts which show 1 low pressure system to our south west, on sat24.com there seems to be 2 low pressure systems clearly visible?

Just seems whatever the models show, its not cold enough for snow here. Its just starting to get annoying now, bring on Spring please. I remember this year wearing t shirts and shorts!

Interesting charts from the 18Z GFS run for midday Saturday. Potential is there for another snow event. Evelyn mentioned the possibility of snow for Munster on Friday on the 2355 forecast on RTE Radio 1.

No actual input to this thread, but I find it funny that the spring models have snow forecast!

Is there any ole wifes tails about cold in early spring? Long warm summer? **** summer? Rest of the year to be wet?

how are the models looking now? From my amateur eye, still looks cold well into next week?

The latest guesstimate says this easterly will continue for another month. Met office 30 day "forecast" is
    Headline:

Staying very cold with further snow showers in places.
    Today:

Largely cloudy but with occasional sunny spells, particularly across the northwest. Snow showers continuing but these should become lighter and less frequent across the northeast. Remaining very cold with winds staying brisk across central and southern parts.
    Tonight:

Further snow showers overnight but these should ease or die out in places with clear spells developing. Staying breezy and bitterly cold with a widespread frost and some icy stretches.

    Thursday:

Further snow flurries in places but these should generally be lighter and more isolated with many areas remaining dry and bright. Staying very cold, particularly in the brisk wind.

    Updated: 0245 on Wed 27 Mar 2013
    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining cold with further wintry flurries. Widespread, penetrating night frosts, with bitter easterly winds. The chance of some light rain or snow in the far southwest on Friday.

    Updated: 0245 on Wed 27 Mar 2013
UK Outlook for Monday 1 Apr 2013 to Wednesday 10 Apr 2013:

The first week of April is likely to be largely dry for most of the United Kingdom, with only isolated wintry showers affecting some northern and eastern areas. There is also a chance of rain and perhaps some hill snow in the far southwest. Cloud cover will vary across the country, with western areas most likely to see any sunshine. Temperatures will remain cold with widespread overnight frosts and icy patches. There are indications of a change to more unsettled weather towards the middle of the month, although this change is likely to be gradual and some areas will retain the cold and dry weather. Temperatures are likely to become less cold, although they will probably still be below average for the time of year.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 10 Apr 2013 to Wednesday 24 Apr 2013:

Much of the UK is likely to start cold, with a fair amount of dry weather, although further snowfall is possible, mainly in the form of showers. Overnight frost remains likely. Towards the latter part of April there is no strong signal for rainfall amounts, although temperatures may start to recover from the west to nearer normal values, whilst possibly becoming more unsettled.

Looking at this morning GFS, cold airmass reluctant to go. Sub-zero uppers over us all the way to the end of the run.

GFS is having a nervous breakdown, it flips between sub Arctic and mild with every update nearly.
