We would also like to start a section for the younger child, ie Beavers aged 6yrs to 8yrs, however we have a waiting list of young people who'd like to join us in our adventures and not enough grown ups to help us do this! If you are interested in us, we'd be interested in hearing from you.

    4th Offaly (Edenderry) Scout Group:

We've changed our times slightly since we started and should've updated this ages ago!

We still meet on Wednesdays at the Parish Centre, next to St Mary's RC Church, Edenderry...

    Cubs (9-11yrs) meet from 6pm till 7.30pm
    Scouts (12-15yrs) & Venture Scouts (15-18yrs) meet from 7.30pm till 9pm
    Adult scouters (18-99yrs) 6pm till 9pm Wednesdays...

We are currently hoping to attract adults aged 18+ who have an interest in working with young people and are happy to be Garda Vetted by Scouting Ireland. We have a strict recruitment policy which involves interview, taking of references, Garda Vetting and training.

Adults who wish to join our group do not require previous experience, although this could be an advantage! Everybody brings something new to any group regardless of background and experience which is what makes scouting such a unique and diverse group of people from all walks of life.

All we ask is that you have a genuine interest in being involved in the lives of young people and can offer one and a half hours a week with occasional weekend activities too. This said we are not all about camping, although a large part of our programme does involve camping. We have weekly meetings which concentrate on all sorts of training ranging from tying the odd knot to delivering first aid or cooking up a storm for the group using nothing but a glorified candle!

We teach the skills required and help those with existing skills learn more. Scouting is an adventure for young and old, working together in small groups, in the great outdoors when possible...
