VISA Debit, card processing fees

    Hi Guys,

    Little question/issue - why is it the some places charge a horrendous amount in card processing fees when using my Visa debit card?

    For example, I bought plane tickets today, and I was charged 12e alone just in card fees?

    Not the first time I've seen this either, be great to get to the bottom of it!

    Hi Robert,

    It is entirely up to the merchant if they charge for using a card. Bank of Ireland has no say or control over this.

    You would need to check with the particular merchant, if they will apply a charge or not.
