Does anyone know if there's a set time Vodafone have to have a phone back to you when they take it in for repair?

You should not be waiting more than a reasonable time which is anything up to about 10 days.

Consumer law states a reasonable time - which is very much open to interpretation. For me, it should be no more than 10 working days. Even 5 working days would be pushing it for me.

The reason many delays occur is that shops are offered free P&P on phones sent for warranty repair by the menders but there is usually a minimum number of 10-20 phones which must be sent together. if they send less phones they must cover the postage and insurance etc, so to save money shops will let phones build up for a few days and this can be an issue for smaller shops where the numbers of handsets sent for repair will be lower than in a larger store. generally the repair companies would have most handsets repaired and returned within a few days unless the needed to send them back to the manufacturer.
