Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Suarez limping, just incase we thought it couldn't get any worse.

This has to be our worst performance this year.

You either have a short memory or have gotten carried away with the hype like the players and manager have on todays evidence.

We need a defensive coach in badly. We know these players can defend, and we've tried every combination this season. Maybe Rodgers takes Wenger's view of the game and doesn't bother with that side of the game?

    Henderson on. Too late

CB and defending needs to be seriously addressed. Away form is terrible.

The Liverpool defenders really have to grow a pair.

Can you imagine Carra just letting Rodriguez shoot right in front of him?

Villa, Stoke, Oldham, first Arsenal game and Soton are all much of a muchness.

Whats notable about today is that as with Oldham the seeds of destruction were planted before the game.

Lucas and Gerrard non existent in the centre. Made it easy for him to get in on goal.

Outnumbered simply. Work rate from the front has been ****e which hasn't helped either, Sturridge couldn't look any more disinterested if he tried.

Jesus Johnson has been **** today.

He's been crap for a few weeks now.

Him and Sturridge hopeless today closely followed by Skrtel and Gerrard

    Zero leadership out there either.

We have not got a fighting mentality. Some senior players out there who are quite adept at hiding when it comes to the crunch

When you are simply outclassed you can have no complaints, but when you are outworked by a team with far more desire then that is unacceptable.

The manager picked the wrong team to start this game for sure, but I firmly believe that we have some really powder puff players who earn top dollar without ever justifying it.

Too many poor performances today. But Rodgers should take the most blame - he cut the legs from this team before a ball was kicked by including Allen.

Starting Allen and Skrtel today was a huge factor in this poxy result.

This is pretty much spot on.

henderson for sturridge sub would have been the sub early 2nd half

The starting 11 should be good enough to beat this Southampton team........

replay shows otherwise for the third goal. Allen and Gerrard have had stinkers today. Neither were any good, and both gave a masterclass in passing the ball to the other team. No drive and no leadership from either, and no brains.

Lucas has added some backbone since coming on, but he too has given the ball away a bit, and has been guilty of leaving big gaps in front of the centre backs.

Gerrard, Allen, Sturridge, Johnson and Skrtel have been awful today imo. A team can sometimes carry a passenger, but trying to carry five passengers when the opposition is playing well is simply not going to happen.

What happened today has happened a number of times this season, and pretty much each time has seen that big gap between our midfield and defence exploited.

We are stuck with what we have until the summer, but I hope that come the start of next season we see two or three new first team faces coming in to add quality to the defence and midfield

Rodgers sticks on Henderson when were 3-1 down when they've been all over us all fcking half, 4 attacking players on the pitch feeding off scraps while we can barely string 2 passes together in midfield. What a sh1te display from him today.

Disagree. Away to Soton was always going to be tough without inlcuding two players in appalling form.

    Not when setup incorrectly.

Deserved win for Southampton. Battered us.

The better team won today. All the Southampton players did their job, they worked hard, and played as a team.

Very poor by Liverpool as a team, and awful by four or five individuals.

Both manager and players to blame today, simple as that.

    Disgusting.

Another abject display, particularly the first half showing. There have been countless games this season where Liverpool have looked ill prepared mentally and It's the one major gripe I have with Rodgers...

You always leave yourself open to that when you're looking for an equaliser.

That was compounded by the fact that Rodgers didn't put Henderson on.

Southampton are a decent side. If you don't show up at St Mary's you're not going to have a good time.

Hope they stay up and expect them to, they play good football and have some great individual players too. Convincing win for them today, by far the better side.

thats my over riding feeling of the day and of this team, not up for the fight. we have plenty of national team captains yet no stand out fighter, leader. where was Gerrard? i never see him rallying the troops or getting things going

maybe a very harsh statement to make, but you have to wonder about Gerrard's drive at this stage too, he has looked fantastic this season at times but when he is bad he has been simply terrible.

Is he just seeing out time now pretty much? Very little hunger shown today which is in some ways to be expected by an experienced player who knows he'll never fulfill the ambition of winning a league title at this stage.

    Out-thought, out-fought and, ultimately, outplayed.

The only plus I can take away from this match is that a good attacking exciting team should hopefully stay up after this result. Well done to Southampton.

That was arguably our poorest performance of the season. I can't think of a time this year where we were outplayed by a team currently outside the top 6. If you had told me we were going to lose today I would've thought it would be the usual case of poor finishing and getting caught on the break, but Southampton pretty much dominated from start to finish and 3-1 was a fair result. We were sluggish and disjointed from start to finish, and we looked as if we had played on Thursday night. I hope there was a good reason for not starting Lucas. Question marks over Rodgers not changing much in the team in either personnel or tactics when things were clearly going wrong.

We shouldn't be surprised by the inconsistency at this stage but we could have been forgiven for thinking that perhaps we had turned a corner after 3 wins on the trot.

We can probably forget about Europe now. Everton is 6th is the only realistic target now.

Rodgers looked like an amateur today.

Henderson should be rightly fúcking píssed off with his treatment against Allen's.

4mins the last couple of games is lunacy.

And what did Gerrard, Allen, Johnson, and Skrtel look like? Or are we to put their awful performances on Rodgers?

Rodgers made mistakes today, but there are a good number of players who cannot use that as an excuse for their shyte performances.

The Henderson versus Allen arguement is a laughable one as I have said in the LFC superthread. People seem to be ignoring the fact that Henderson has had more starts than Allen since Xmas and has played more minutes than Allen in that time. On form shown since Xmas I think that Henderson deserves to have had that extra gametime.

Yes Henderson has only had bit part roles in the last four league games, but outside of today's game the results in the other three say that Henderson was not missed.
