Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sunderland vs Norwich - 1:30pm - Sky Sports

I'm not sure if anyone wants to bore themselves to death, but if you do Sunderland play Norwich at 1:30pm on Sky Sports 1.

    The teams:

Mignolet, Gardner, Rose, O'Shea (c), Cuellar, Vaughan, Larsson, Johnson, Sessegnon, Fletcher, Graham.

Subs: Bardsley, N'Diaye, Wickham, Colback, Bramble, McClean, Westwood.

Bunn; R.Martin (C), Bassong, Turner, Garrido; Johnson, Howson, E.Bennett, Snodgrass, Hoolahan; Kamara.

Subs: Camp; Whittaker, Holt, Jackson, Fox, Becchio, R.Bennett.

Probably the biggest game Sunderland have played in quite some time. Win and we have some breathing space from the relegation spots, lose and we're in big, big trouble as we'll probably take 0 points from our next four games (Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton).

We've had a couple of these games in recent times (Reading and West Ham) and somehow won both 3-0 so I'm going to be optimistic and say we take the 3 points here.

    2-0 Sunderland (I hope!).

    Fancy Sunderland by odd goal.

Two goal game at most I'll go with 1-1. What's the story with Becchio? He was brought in to score goals but he's not played much football.

    Fancy Sunderland by odd goal.

0-0 with Bunn to save a penalty,my FF weekend needs this!

I've a feeling this could outdo United v Reading for the title of most boring game of the season.

Not going to be a cracker of a game but hopefully we should come away with the 3points, 2pts from the last 18 is very worrying

Great to see Rose back in the starting 11, and good to see MON sticking with Graham partnering Fletcher upfront.

2-1 to Sunderland I think (hope)

Manchester United vs Reading looked like El Clasico compared to many Sunderland games this season.

2 free headers shocking stuff from Sunderland

1-0 Norwich, soft goal to give away.

    Easy one for Hoolihan.

Good effort, really need to kick on now against 10 men

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Only one more Norwich goal until we start playing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

It was such a poor decision by the ref. The thing is, he only guessed at what happened and his guess is wrong.

Anyone else think the red was a bit harsh?
Ball was struck at him from point blank range.

Edit: Thought there was another touch just before it hit the keeper. Still a bit harsh though.

    Sunderland penalty? This is mad...

That Irish flag is bringing Sunderland a whole heap of luck,

Gardner is due to miss one.

    Harsh again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

    Very very harsh!

Super penalty, you don't stop them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,304 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Just looking again, offside could have even been called there before the penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

    Mad match!

Harsh penalty alright but I'm not going to complain, good finish.!

Was it a peno since the sunderland player was offside?

    Unbelievable peno.

Officials are a ****ing disaster. Everything against us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,306 ✭✭✭BobbyPropane

Two decisions were correct. You cant use your arm to control the ball even if it rolls onto it especially in the penalty box.

For the goalkeeper, the ball clearly hit his elbow.

They were offside before Bassong even "handled" the ball.

Gardner's crossing has been awful, keeps hitting the first man.

No way was it a poor decision by the ref. When have you ever seen any outfield player get away with trying to 'chest' the ball down like this?

Never a peno though, the Sunderland attacker should have been flagged for offside.

    Wickham for Graham please, Martin.

Graham is one of those players who rarely plays well but can always nick a goal. Frustrating striker!

    Should have been a penalty.

Holy Jaysus disgraceful by the officials

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    That was inside the box...

The officials only got the sending off correct so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Bloody hell, if we don't win this game with all this luck I give up.

    Worse than Fellani yesterday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,197 ✭✭✭kensutz

Linesman fails to see Bennett's jersey being pulled in front of his eyes. Fails to see Rose handled in the area. Absolute gimps

Jeasus, can't say decisions aren't going our way, very fortunate that wasn't a peno

We won't win with Johnson and Larsson on the field. Useless

Norwich just not catching a break at all.

We're going down. 0 points from the next four games is almost guaranteed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,197 ✭✭✭kensutz

Decent point for 10 players against 14.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,085 ✭✭✭BeanFlicker

60 mins against 10 men, decisions going our way and still we're rubbish, tough 4 games coming up including a derby, we're fooked.!

    Sunderland in serious, serious trouble.

The only saving grace is that it's difficult to see any of the bottom 3 making up the ground necessary over that 4 game period - however if Sunderland keep up this form for the rest of the season, it could be a worrying last day of the season for you. Particularly if Villa were safe, and Wigan needed a win against them to stay up at Sunderland's expense... I wouldn't be betting on Villa to do a huge amount of favours
