    Hi all, Quick question here.
im trying to work out the per day cost of my esb.

i read the meter on friday and 4:30 and again on sunday also at 4:30,

on friday it read : 711417.4

    on sunday it read 711674.1

    thats 256.7 over 48 hours

    or

    approx 128.35 for 24 hours.

now, how do i calculate the cost? or what is the current rate for esb?

im not the main bill payer but a contributor.....

That's a lot of usage for two days, Ye must be growing Weed ? :D

You just multiply the units used by the electricity rate which you will find on your bill or on your suppliers website but tax, Standing Charge and PSO Levy are also added to the bill.

depends how close the reads were and if they were estimates or actuals

did i read the meter correctly? would a photo graph help?

    so frustrated here

not growing weed, but maybe i should start in order to pay this bill!!! im living alone btw. there are a lot of sheds here though and there should be nothing in them., i think someone is leaving something on somewhere...

whats an average usage for someone? i

    all i use is
    laptop charger
    and a desktop
    and occasionally an electric blanket
    telly
    washing machine once a week
    dishwasher once a week.
microwave and kettle once a day maybe

Maybe a freezer or fridge could be responsible.

    128units x 20cent=€25.60 approx

Fridge and freezer use very little.

I would be suspect of the readings done honest.

im going to take a photo now, maybe ye can shed some light....

maybe i understood the meter wrong. and placed a decemial point in the wrong place..

instead of my usage over two days being 256.7, its more likely to be 25.67

    13 units per day (average)

20 cent is a rounded figure(not exact but close enough for a guide)

I find this link good https://www.electricireland.ie/ei/residential-energy-services/reduce-your-costs/web-calculator.jsp . It tells you the cost of every item you use, It estimated my bill to be €132.68 and when I got it it came in at €128.77

Standing charges etc would make up the difference...

We are really getting rode compared to the unit price in other countries
