Broken Condenser

    Hey I recently bought a broken Large Diaphragm Condenser with the intention of fixing it. When I plug it in I have to max out the gain to get any level from it. And at that it's very noisy and thin.
    Ive taken the mic apart and couldn't find anything wrong. No bad wiring/cracked solder on the PCB. I've checked it with different leads and have tried other condensers with my desk so it's definitely the mic.

    Anyone here have any ideas as to what the problem is?

    There could be a problem with one or more of the components on the PCB. Meter & test each of these - you might have to desolder some to test if you're getting unexpected readings. Start with any electrolytic caps first.
    There could also be a problem with the capsule and/or with the polarising voltage to the backplate.
