have always been curious about the residential caravan park next to golf driving range.... is it privately owned by the residents or is it just a de facto squat which is under the council's interest radar. i don't want specifics, eg anyone to identify anyone living there, just curious about the status of the land or their legal ownership of it.

It's private land, the plots are rented from the owner of the land (the people who operate the caravan/camp site), the people themselves own the trailers/caravans, there is nobody living there full time afaik but there is nothing to stop them from doing so if they wish. They all have their own water and waste systems and electricity supply.

There are several permenant owned trailers which are used as holiday homes and then a load of plots where you can bring your own caravan for a week or two and park it and hook up to the water/electricity and a number of caravans owned by the company which are rented out short term. And then there is a load of space for tents and shower/laundry/cooking facilities.

thanks for that but are you talking about the Salthill caravan park? I'm talking about this location: 53.256645, -9.104552 , between the caravan park and the driving range.
