Is this actually a good price? Never seen ceramic le creuset before

    It definitely is!

There is something similar on the Debenhams website for €40

    http://www.debenhams.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10052_10001_331003911182DISQ_-1

Edit: €40 dish is 23cm (Stoneware) the €6.25 dish is (Ceramic).
It is a good price for le creuset stuff, which is expensive. I think the real question is whether this is good value for a ceramic rectangular dish. Le creuset are well know for enamelled cast iron cookware, it lasts an age and performs well. But a ceramic dish is a simple item, I use a glass pyrex type one and can't see it ever "failing" in its lifetime, bar dropping it, while I view all my frying pans as disposable/having a lifespan.

So this sort of reminds me of the thread with the ferrari watches where people questioned if they are worth it, and if they were in fact any good, or better than a similar quality watch which might be cheaper. Though a cheapo dish in tesco is probably the same price as this so its still good, ceramics can be prone to getting small cracks, that's why I prefer glass.

Ordered 2 as well. I have no idea why, but I ordered 2 as well. Does this mean I'm in the cool gang now?

This thread badly needs a popup warning disclaimer about impulse buying.

The Creuset could have the advantage of looking better as an "on the table" serving dish though. Either way the pyrex is also another good bargain. Cheers.

It says it holds 2 portions so a set of 4 is perfect to have for a dinner party with 8 people, make the dinner in the four dishes , serve dish on table between 2 people . Sorted.

6 ordered, I cant wait now to start hosting dinner parties and get the guests to eat straight out of them, Ive always know that my dinner hosting skills are commensurate to the amount of le Creuset cookware I have on show.

I asked this a few pages back but no one seems to know as perhaps they haven't received them yet?

I'd be interested to know as they are offering a 2-3 day service and I think they are coming from Denmark (?)

    Anyone received them yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Mine just arrived (from An Post).

I don't claim to be an expert on these things but they look decent (if quite small).

More importantly, it claims the typical Retail Price is £30.65, that's a proper bargain! I will give one a test drive this evening.
