Not sure if this is the correct section sorry if its not.

I changed the fan in my acer ferrari one. I damaged the little tab that holds the keyboard ribbon in place. The keys wont work now. Can this be fixed? I tried putting some glue to hold the ribbon in place but it did not work
    Can these be replaced?

Ouch.....it depends on how damaged it is, i believe these connectors could be changed, but where to be honest, i don't know.

i reckon you are looking at a replacement motherboard tbh.

Those connectors usually pop up and you can release the ribbon, I think the only purpose this serves is to secure the ribbon and I'm not sure if it applies pressure at an important point. I would try inserting the ribbon as far in as you can get it, and using some electrical tape to thoroughly tape the connection in. Maybe use some strong duct tape after to further secure the ribbon. Otherwise I would echo dj sims worry of motherboard replacement being needed. A soldering specialist may be able to solder a new connector for you, but I would reckon it would be a tricky job and not come cheap!

Cheers folks. I had it secured with some tape but it never worked perfectly. Some keys would work and others wouldn't etc

Cut out a small piece of cardboard and try placing it above the ribbon in the groove, this would hopefully push the ribbon firmly down, then tape it up again and see how it goes :)

I had this problem on an Asus laptop recently, the black clip that flips up and down to secure the ribbon cable came out. I was eventually able to fit it back in, but it was quite tricky. As it was somebody else's laptop, I was quite worried for a bit. If you don't have the piece, or if its actually broken, maybe you could source a faulty mobo for parts.
