€5.08 for the 1980 Act and €2.73 for the 1893 Act. It's also €9.65 if anyone is looking to buy the LCLRA 2009 for Property.

    Constitutional law

so many topics, trying to learn stuff, and then realise I can't remember a topic I read 15 topics ago!!! Just hoping some of it is sticking!
I'm afraid to cut out any more topics just in case! Panic!

To clarify, they will accept the Legislation on the day. As I said above, it will mean you will be waiting an hour for it but in that case you can leave the relevant question until later on in the exam.
This is from personal experience and seeing others do it. If you can make it there the day before then do but there is no need to worry. If you call them they will say the same as me.

I spoke to them this morning actually and the lady told me that they will not accept legislation on the morning of the exam. I enquired specifically because it didn't mention it on the rules and I was wondering if it was still permitted. I'm glad I checked now after she said that they wouldn't accept it.

    She said:
Legislation must be dropped in at least one day prior to your exam so it can be checked. There are a lot of candidates sitting in the Red Cow so it would not be possible to have your legislation checked the morning of the exam.

There is no way they would accept the likes of a 1200 page company law book, eg, on day of exam. They have to go through these books, remember.

They used to. I have sat these exams a number of times and they have always previously accepted legislation on the day, but on the condition that it would not be on your desk when you entered the exam hall - they'd usually arrive about 30 - 45 minutes into the exam.

Good to know for this time that they are not accepting them on the day anymore! Wouldn't like to be caught out! :)

In past sittings they have accepted legislation on the morning of the exam, it just takes a while before you get it. I left in both my EU and Company legislation on the morning of the exams. Unless you are at the red cow for an exam the day before or have a friend who is, it is a lot of time to take out of your day before prep to go there to drop it in.

I would ask the invigilators at the start of the exams - I'd say you can drop it in the morning of the exam as per usual, if not it is extremely unfair on people who live outside Dublin and have to travel for the exams.

It is my first time sitting these exams, what topics do people generally recommend studying for equity?

I'm sure they won't not accept them on the day but for your own ease of mind, hand them in the day before if you need to.
They understand that people cannot make it up to them the days before.
The person on the phone was obviously just a stickler for the rules!

Ask them on the first day of exams maybe?

Considering how the person I received the email from is the Exams Administrator, I won't be taking any risks and will be travelling to the Red Cow the day before to drop off the book. Company is my first exam so won't be there beforehand. Each to their own I guess though!

Ah right, I called them the last time and they said different. Each to their own!

Corporate personality just refers to the separate legal person that a company is as against its shareholders and officers.

If you need a further explanation, I would have a concern that you may not be ready to sit Company on this occasion.

I'm doing basically the above too. I think we have more than enough covered. I hope I'm not wrong!

Agreed, doing exactly the same minus Trespass to Persons and Damages!

For equity I'm studying the following:

    Injunctions (all except Mareva)

    Specific Performance

    Rectification

    Undue Influence

    Estoppel

    Express Trusts

    Charitable Trusts

    Trustees

    Tracing

Do you think this would be enough?

Also can anyone tell me how our answers should different from undergraduate exam answers and how long they should be?

  • Registered Users Posts: 300 ✭✭Leraf

I have no clue what I am doing or if I am doing it right, I suspect I am doing it all wrong! I am trying to make notes for each topic but it is taking forever. How do you know what you should be putting down in notes. Is it supposed to be just bullet points and if so, how do you learn from them. Like i said panic is completely setting in now !

I sat this exam last sitting <<mod deletions>>.

I would definitely look over Mareva - <<mod deletions>> I'm basically doing all the above topics and making myself aware of the things I'm leaving out so I can maybe come up with an answer just incase.

What I also did was looked up all the topics she asked in the notes question in the past and made notes on each of them so it can be my back up.

    Mod
PM sent to poster explaining deletions

are people still writing notes?it's taking me forever and I'm doing four

  • Registered Users Posts: 300 ✭✭Leraf

I am :( I am doing four as well and feel like the note writing will never end. That said, I do find I am understanding and remember everything better. I will admit I spend a lot of the time convincing myself how far behind I am and thinking everyone else is well finished the note taking stage.
