Please sign my petition about the Galway fish farm

Hi all, I have not posted here before, so please forgive me if some think I have a cheek, but the matter I am writing about is important to all of us who like to wet a line.

I have asked the folks on Sea angling Ireland, game fishing section, to sign and not one of them has done so. I feel that this is a matter of grave concern to all anglers, not just the game angling people. I do not fish rivers any more and am strictly a sea angler now, but I feel strongly enough about the sheer bloody mindedness of the minister, and his cohorts, to want to show the world what is going on here and all to circumvent the Chinese ban on Norwegian goods.

Please have a look at the petition and if you agree with what I have put in it, please sign it and let us all stick together and maybe we can make some little difference to this dictatorship, which calls itself a democratic government.

Fair play to you for taking the time to set this up, i for one have signed it and hope that our politicians can see past the lure of a paltry 30 jobs or so and see the damage this farm will do to wild fish stocks, the attached picture paints a thousand words of what these farms mean to the marine environment and its inhabitants.

While I admire your sentiments, there is already an ongoing campaign against this farm, and an online petition has been up and running for a while now on change.org at http://www.change.org/petitions/simon-coveney-td-minister-for-agriculture-food-and-the-maine-refuse-the-application-from-bim-to-put-salmon-cages-in-galway-bay?fb_action_ids=144226802411661&fb_action_types=change-org%3Arecruit&fb_ref=__QEiCNkvzPQ&fb_source=timeline_og&action_object_map={%22144226802411661%22%3A595581263788443}&action_type_map={%22144226802411661%22%3A%22change-org%3Arecruit%22}&action_ref_map={%22144226802411661%22%3A%22__QEiCNkvzPQ%22}

Too many different groups/petitions can dilute the effect, please direct your support to the existing campaign, and ask your friends to sign the existing petition. Also write to your TDS explaining why this is a bad idea. Write to Coveney telling him why he should not approve the application. Loads of things we can all do, just please let's stick together and form a united group.

Your effort is commendable wez but I agree with Zzippy let's all get behind the one campaign. I'm sure you would be a valuable contributer.

Thanks for the information and links, the one to facebook is useless as the page is unavailable at this time.

The petition has less signatures than mine has so I think that mine will be kept going.

As I said we have to all stick together and there can be no harm in two petitions going at the same time. I hope that this proposition does not go ahead, I am sure that it can be taken to various courts and the delay will not help either the minister or Marine Harvest. We cannot sit back and let this "government" walk all over us, they must have sore feet the amount of tramping people into the ground they have done. If they get an inch they will take a mile, all you have to do is look at what they have done with tax, "carbon tax" nothing to do with carbon but the monies goes directly into the coffers of Lienster House, if people had done as the pensioners did then this situation, where they think they can do anything they like, would never have arisen. One only has to look at the latest, we'll over value your house and you MUST pay the house tax, they, and only then, you can take it to an appeal, but be aware that we will conduct an audit of all your dealings, that is tantamount to threatening behaviour, if we did that to them they would have us arrested in no time. We must stick together and not show any cracks.
