    Hello folks,
I have my laptop about 6 months and yesterday without warning it started acting very slow. If I leave it for an hour or so it seems to work fine for a while but then it goes a bit slow at times for short periods and starts running ok. The cursor itself doesn't freeze.
If I open task manager it takes ages. The cpu is fairly low about 0-2% but processes are at 94, is that too high? I scanned for viruses and there is none. It is on the latest update and It 64 bit if that makes a difference. It starts up fine. On google this seems to be a bit of a problem but the answers are double dutch.

    Could someone please help.

Try run this utility ccleaner and look at what apps are autostarting.

You can turn them off in this app.

I'd try malwarebytes, get the free version here http://www.malwarebytes.org/
I usually run it on any machine I get that seems slow & it removes malware etc that an antivirus will miss. It usually fixes the problem without me having to do anything else.

How slow is very slow? You could try CCleaner and Malwarebytes, also try running a virus scan from safe mode.

Malwarebytes also have a rootkit scanner now.
    No harm running that too.

one other possibility is failing hard drive.

this could be due to bad sectors or loose sata connector

Download and run Defraggler to make sure disk isn't fragmented.

You could system restore back to a few days ago before slow down started.

That would be my first port of call also...
