    Hi

When setting up a home based food business what preparation is required apart from your kitchen being spotless in order to get certification, eg. do i need a separate fridge, certain equipment etc.

It depends on what you're doing and the EHO's guidelines in your specific area. You just have to wait and see what the EHO says when you speak to them and when they inspect it.

    Hi OP
I certainly would invite the EHO first, specially if you are a novice in the food business. Once he/she told you the very a plan drawn up and submit.
If it all works, happy days. ..

    Bizzyb,

You will probably need a separate kitchen - certainly if you have a washing machine in the kitchen. You will need cleanable surfaces, appropriate refrigeration, appropriate storage. You need a lot of labeling and a lot of record keeping. Depending on what you are doing it is not too bad, most of the requirements make sense.
