Best way to heat a small room

I have a boxroom that I use as a study. It's a small room, and I light a little briquette fire in the fireplace to heat it, but this doesn't really warm the air up - my nose is froze! What's the best (cheapest, most efficient) method for heating the air in a little room?

Is there a radiator in the room?

Id block the chimney. They draw alot of air. Then a small oil heater or superser will heat it fine.

Thats going on the basis of you don't want to use the heating to heat the house

Thanks, good advice. I've been using an open fire, but it's not really doing the trick. Any recommendations on oil heaters? Safety included.
