My post-college advice can be summed up succinctly:

    Assume the foetal position.

I usually tell people to work on getting their full drivers licence as it opens the door to other jobs and opportunities. Do you have your full licence ?

The question of car or a place, i would ask
    1. Would owning a car lead to more free time for you ?
    2. Would the total cost of ownership (tax, Insurance, petrol, wear and tear, loan/purchase cost) be worth it ? or would it put you under financial strain ?

Are you going to move far away? I worked with someone that got an overpriced apartment 20 mins from her house just to be 15 minutes closer to work :/ I get that people want to experience living away from home, but personally I think "go hard or go home" applies very well here :pac: Move out if you're going to be living a decent bit away. If work and socialising is keeping you closer to home, stay at home, get a below-average car and save. There's pros and cons to both - I miss my car living in Dublin now for convenience and I like driving, but in a bigger city there's no need for it.

I think you're better off looking for work with a fantastic company doing something you enjoy and go from there :) If they're close to home, get the car. If not, move out.

My view on the situation would be; you're an adult, you've got a job, there's no way you should be living with your parents if you can support yourself. You're parents have done enough for you, time to stand on your own. Unless you really need a car -as in without one you'd have to rely on other people to give you lifts to work etc- then I'd prioritize moving out and save up for a car.

Rent a place, get a car, save up for your own place.
