    Hi there,

I have an 8 channel IQ CCTV brand DVR.
I have standard irish 'netopia' router.

Having issues setting up remote access over the web for the dvr.
I can get it working on local network, accessible by anything using the same router.

Has anyone done this and can help me?

We should be able to get you sorted. First I need some more information.:
What ports have you set up on the DVR?
Have you forwarded these ports on the router?
Who is your ISP? HAve you a fixed ot dynamic IP address.

    Thanks for the reply.
ISP is Eircom. Do they allow fixed ip?
I have tried adding a 'custom nat' for the dvr on the router settings.
Attached is pic of settings on dvr settings.

Eircom don't allow fixed IP on domestic AFAIK.
Is there other network setting on your DVR for IP address SubNet mask etc?
On the router forward the ports & enable them , then set firewall to low.

Ok, there is a dhcp mode where it will get your ip. It will use standard subnet and gateway i think. Page 27 in the manual...

    How do i correctly forward/enable a port?

you have to ask for one and it will more than likely have an extra cost with it.
doing anything with dhcp will make no difference as the network you are on is a private network and are only creating settings for internally within your network.

Turn off DCHP and assign an IP address of 192.168.1.100
For the dns enter 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

To forward ports enter custom service , enter port number & forward to IP address 192.168.1.100
If its the netopia routers this will then be listed in services drop down menu. Select from there & enable.
Remember to set firewall to low.

Contact Eircom, they will charge you circa €50 + VAT for a fixed IP

    Cheers,

How can I turn off DHCP? There only other settings are static and pppoe.

Change that to static. It should then give you the option to change the IP
Gateway will be the IP address of the router /modem.

    Hi, back again.

So I have got a static IP off eircom and it is setup.
I am still having issues getting the dvr setup.

Below are the details of the static ip given from eircom...
    IP: <Snip>
    Subnet: 255.255.255.255

    And read from the router...
    Gateway: 159.134.155.12
    DNS1: 159.154.0.1
    DNS2: 159.154.0.2

I have tried putting all these settings into the 'static ip' setup page on the dvr, using port 81. I have then defined custom NAT on the router for port 81.

What do I need to do to be able to access the dvr via the static ip?

You'd need to find the "Firewall" setting and set it to "low"

Also turn off "Remote Admin" on the router itself ( or whatever they call it on your router ) - otherwise it'll get hammered

(See attached pic - you can see the login page to the router on the internet)

Cheers, for that, already have firewall set to low. Had remote admin on just to check the staic ip was working.

What is your internal IP set up & what is your DVRs IP setting?

Your internal range should be like 192.168.1.***
With Eircom the router should be 182.168.1.254
Taking that then your IP Setting on the DVR would be IP 192.168.1.***
    *** being any number between 1 & 253
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Gatway 192.168.1.254

No on your Router set the firewall to low.
Goto NAT/Port Forwarding & forward what ever ports are in the DVT IP settings to the IP of the DVR.

Is the "Gateway" on the IQdvr set to the IP address of your eircom router

    ( usually 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.1 not 192.168.000.001 as in the pic on page27 )

The Gateway is the IP of the router & must be in the same range as the DVR.
This will be the same IP address you use to access your routers menu.

Hi guys, thanks so much for the help.

In the end I had to use add a 'static nat' which worked beautifully.

For anyone else having issues these are settings i used.

    ON THE DVR
    - Select Static IP
    - IP: 192.168.1.100
    - Web Port: 81
    - Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    - Gateway: 192.168.1.254 (the ip to access router)
    - DNS1: 8.8.8.8.8
    - DNS2: 8.8.4.4

    ON THE ROUTER
    - Bought static IP from eircom
    - Set firewall to LOW
    - Defined static NAT for ip 192.168.1.100
    - Defined custom NAT for port 81.

For remote access i now simply go to the static ip with the port at the end eg: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:81

Has anyone tried to set up this dvr for remote viewing with sky sr101 hub. To overcome static ip issue I have signed up with dyndns. I can access the dvr no problem using andriod and locally using netdvr, however I cannot access it remotely. Dose anyone have any suggestions...
