Can anyone tell me here if this Audi in link below has DRL's or LED lights? The shape of this headlight seems to be different to some other Audi A4's I have been looking at that have the feature. I want my my audi to have the DRL option.

    Thanks

DRLs, It's usually models with xenon lights get the LEDs as DRLs.

Has this car in link any DRLs could you tell?

Yes, you can see them on in the picture.

Didn't see them with the shine from interior lamp. Just confirming and excuse my stupid question but are they the ones on the very bottom of headlight in a line sequence across the headlight?

I'd be more concerned about bottle top alloys and the cloth seats but as long as it has the bling bling look at me LED's  they see me rolling

That's an awful lot of euros.

All A4s have the DRLs. Only the S-Line has the LEDs though. The one featured in the ad is the standard 120bhp model which doesn't have the LED DRLs.

It wasn't just the S Line, any model specified with xenons would have had them.

Really awful spec though on that car.

Excuse my stupid question, but if DRL's are not LED, so what kind of bulbs they use?

I was actually checking out a uk spec one which had the same headlights but was a 143bhp one with 17 inch alloys, sat nav, mm, bluetooth handsfree, sensors etc. It was nothing specticular but small bit more spec than the average car. it had cloth seats alright but to be honest I don't see what all the fuss is about leather seats? I can do without them but that's just me. I'd rather have sat nav functionality in car than leather.

The one I was looking at was a better equipped car (09 audi SE) than the link posted and €2900 less with lower mileage too.

All current Audi A4 models from 2008 were fitted with DRLs. Standard DRLs were halogen where as the Sport models and those ordered with xenon headlights got LED DRLs too. S Line models also got rear LED tail lights.

The one the OP is looking at looks like they were fitted with the standard halogen bulb DRLs.

The car linked in the op has the base spec lights. Non xenon lights and no LED.

Good luck shifting that car at that price my A6 was sold for a grand less with 170bhp engine and a load of extras. That car is about 4000 over priced.

Yeah that is a ridiculous price for that Audi. It shouldn't be priced anything over €17,500 for that car itself. Bog standard in fairness. There isnt even reverse sensors in it, i cant see the sensors anyway. That's the one thing I hate about Audi's that i hate buying second hand. There isn't one out there that will have everything without sacrificing for a missing spec. Even the S-lines vary and some have stuff in them that others don't. Drove an S-line there recently and had everything in it but mileage was ridulous for a 11 reg one. It had 110,000 miles up on it and might have been fine and genuine but I wanted one with lower mileage as I would have been paying enough for it. Just thought for an 11 car the mileage was too high. I nearly have to bring a checklist with me when looking at different type Audi's.

It's a pretty lame entry level model too, only 120bhp, not even a multi-function steering wheel. I really don't see what the appeal would be in that car.

Much more bang for your bucks in an A6 as you said, eg:

Hope this thread isnt too old.

Can a B8 model Audi A4 with standard halogen DRLs be changed to these xenon lights with the LED running DRLs? Can an Audi garage do this if approached? I think the standard halogen ones are boring and I wouldnt mind changing them to the LED DRLs option if possible?

I saw a 1998 Audi A4 with this done before but I thought it looked silly on that car (B5 type).

All is possible but I doubt audi would do it for you. They generally dont touch anything that audi dont produce a specific retrofit kit for, even then it can be difficult to get them to do it. A few guys in the uk have done it on A5 as the uk A5 didnt get the front leds as standard like we did here. You basically have to change the light units, do some coding and possibly change a control module. You then need to fit headlight washers, wire that pump and alter the front bumper to take the washer jet. You then need to get the self levelling set up. There is a guy on A5oc that is currentky struggling with the self levelling so its not too straight forward.
The washer and self levelling are required when you have xenons fitted however im not sure if nct actually check this.
In short, just fitting the lights is reasonable to do. Fitting all the factory kit that comes with Drl, makes it not economically sensible really.

It is that complicated? I thought it would be a matter of taking out one set of headlights and installing the new LED shaped ones, connect up, wire and code. Its sounds very sophiscated, never thought it would be as difficult as you described. I would love to get them installed but dont know if i could get someone to put them in. It would probably cost an arm and a leg by the sounds of it.

It can be done but will cost silly money.

Yeah I approached audi before about the same question you're asking.. indeed they don't really want to touch the subject of retrofit and advised that it will get quite costly.. might as well save you money towards the next one..

The self leveling part is the issue.. I was told that apparently the "Xenon headlamps are linked into the suspension system"

All cars with factory fitted xenons come with self leveling which is connected to 2 arms on the cars suspension (front and back) The most expensive part though will be the headlights - even second hand you are probably looking at over1k for the pair.

Personally i wouldn't bother with self leveling, one car i had i disconnected it and on my current car it didn't work for ages,i passed my NCT last week and i didn't see them check for self leveling in the test.

I'm assuming this is not ready fitted to non factory fitted Xenon???

I actually saw a pair last year going for about 650Eur.. not knowing how to fit it and the self leveling kinda put me off it in the end..

Why did you disconnect it on one of your car??

Does anyone know if the light need to be programmed when switch over from Halogen to Xenon

No it wouldn't be an easy retro fit either.
    lau1247 wrote: »

The car was lowered on coil overs and as a result the arms on the suspension were pushed out of range so if i tried to adjust the xenons with VCDS (diagnostic software on the laptop) i would just get an error and be able to do nothing,so i just disconnected the self leveling and adjusted them as nornal.
