    Hi all,

I recently signed up to vodafone home & boadband from eircom.
I signed up for the 24mbps package, but after configuring my eircom outer to work with vodafone, im only getting between 1-3mbps speeds.

Is this experienced by anyone else?
and how can i fix it?

    cheers.

probably sounds about right so. vodafone are still using the same line that eircom used so it wont make much difference. could be wrong though.were you supposed to be getting 8MB with eircom

Was your max speed with Eircom 3mb? i.e "upto 8mb" but in reality only 3mb max?
Do you know what the quality of your line is like? Or how far you are from your exchange? Your package is probably "upto 24mb" but in reality you'll get no where near that.

yup id go with the above comments. my max line is ~7Mb. im on an 8mb package but only get the 7mb speeds.
happens in rural areas mate. sorry to say.
best of luck sorting it. i assume they will cut you back to the cost of the 8mb package they have as basic

The "8 MB package" is only 7.6 MB to begin with

    and if you're getting 7, you're quite lucky. ;)

OP, talk to Vodafone technical support.

You sure? I'm on the 8mbit package and get 7+ now at peak hours, hits 7.4-7.5 off peak

    It all depends on congestion.

    I'm on a 30Mb DL package.

    Speedtest there now:

    It all depends on congestion.

I'm talking about the sync speed on the modem, mine is syncing at 8187Kbps, Torqay said the max the 8mbit package it syncs at 7616Kbps

Well, out here, all "8 Mbit" lines I have seen sync at 7.6.

    Congestion is a different matter.

You're most likely on a standard ADSL exchange, which maxes out at 7616/672. PogMoThoin is probably on ADSL2+

I'm currently getting just over 1.2 on an 8mbps line.

I can't wait for my contract to finish so I can switch to sky!

Since Sky are using the same infrastructure you may not get better speeds. Depends on whether it's a congestion or line sync issue.

Nope definitely not, it's in a small village, a sub exchange of an exchange in a bigger town. The max speed package here is 8mbit, I've checked.

Nothing but problems there, going by the Thread in Broadband. Even some of the ones that got in on the €10 a month Trial are thinking of bailing out.
