Found this while clearing out the attic in an old house. It's 80+ years old at least.

    1 - 2 - 3 - 4

What would you be putting into a hollow brass pipe to force it out in small holes like this?

I'm guessing some ancient, primitive water spray thing. Could also have some use in a zombie apocalypse

Could be some kind of fire bellows / blower?

Would it have any application in carpentry? The man who owned the place was a carpenter, he more than likely made this.

It's an early colonic irrigation device. Hopefully you were wearing gloves when you handled it.

Looks like an old garden sprayer. Suck the chemical mix from a bucket and spray it on your hedge, veggies... whatever.

Very similar, they wouldnt have needed a perforated end though. I believe there is one of those around here too!

Fecked if I know. If it wasn't made by a caveman I'm outa my comfort zone... :D Whatever it is it doesn't hold much in the way of volume so I doubt it's a fire extinguisher or such like. Wouldn't make much of a bellows either. Maybe it's a part of something larger? Maybe rather than holding a liquid, maybe it's a blower of air? A way to clear dust/shavings from a piece of wood being worked or something like that? Horticultural liquid dispenser is another one.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    We have a winner!

I have seen similar implements being used to spray fruit trees.

Yeah garden sprayer seems like it. The guy was big into gardening, used to do tree grafting I believe. So it's like something he would make up.

It's one of those jibby jobbers mentioned up there.
There used to be an old program on with Jack Hargreaves called Out of Town and he would often have contraptions like on and ask the viewers to guess what they were - and it was a garden sprayer for pesticides.
