Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Clarke is about as useful as an underwater hairdryer.

I swear Clark never used to do that. Jesus Christ.

Why is McClean taking corners? Awful delivery almost every single time.

Thinking that, surely someone else outside of the aerial targets can take a corner?

Clark with a disaster there... Head up lad.

Really can't see us scoring two tbh.

One time Clark had to hoof it.

Ireland making Austria look like Barcelona ffs.

He's done that more than once with Villa this season. An aspect of his game that he really needs to work on. Big blow early on.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,536 Mod ✭✭✭✭Amirani

Should just be playing the simple ball to his full back there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

Clark writes his own script. As I said anybody but him in defence. Complete and utter liability.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,734 ✭✭✭Fowler87

Not the first time Clark has done that recently. Very casual defending

In this case it was unfair expectation. Austria have much better players than us. You can't say that Clark doesn't do stuff like that at club level, just the publics fault for thinking we could win this and underestimating Austria.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,548 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

    Bloody George Hamilton.

Was talking earlier about us winning, which would require a goal and now he doesn't seem to believe the team can score an equaliser.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

I know from Fantasy Football how bad Clark is. He's made a LOT of mistakes this season, surprised he even made the team.

No they don't have better players than us.

O'Shea didn't have a clue what was behind him there when he let that go.

Whelan is way off the pace.

Alaba really is an awesome player. A left back and looks the best midfield player on the pitch, could probably play anywhere he wanted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,122 ✭✭✭Imhof Tank

Sammon's presence on the pitch is totaly unbalancing us. Players looking for the hoof option every time. Get him off and get it down and play.

we would be lucky to get a draw tonight. I couldn't believe it.

They have significantly better players than us.

They are pressing us in possession at all times and we look surprised, like we expetcd them to sit back and defend!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

Walters is offering **** all to Coleman. He's not giving us anything out there so far, just like Friday.

Well that appears to be the gameplan unfortunately. If we tried to play as we did against Sweden that would likely yield better results.

The drill seems to be, when you aren't expected to win, play it on the ground and press the team high up the pitch.

When we are expected to win, play it ultra conservative and hoof it to a target man.

McClean will you stop cutting inside FFS.

Back to square one with this simpleton football. People telling me how good Traps away record is and yet we are like the keystone cops at home.

Have seen Coleman indicating as such, he wants give and go but he is having to take his man on everytime so far.

That linesman has had 2 bad calls so far.

    And a better manager

Wouldn't say that, they've achieved nothing with a good young pool of talent. Yet at least.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

Sammon offering us nothing so far. Anything from our forwards is going through long. We'd be so much better served with Hoolahan on the pitch.

Thats a matter of opinion. But I'm not talking just about Clark, the whole team looks so much worse compared to how they played against Sweden. We get a result...expectation goes up, and now we are playing like this.

Sorry, legs just don't have it for a season with Fulham and then play backwards with Trap.

That's never a ****ing booking. 50/50 ball which McCarthy won for Christs sake.

    This referee is awful.

    Booking there is harsh.

In all my days did i ever think having Paul Green on the pitch might be a good thing. Shame on you Glenn Whelan for making me think that, shame on you.

Average pool of talent and at least he lets them play. Can't watch football played from the 1980's anymore

  • Registered Users Posts: 477 ✭✭ciaeim

sammon has to come off houlahan on, we gotta at least try to play football and not hoofball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,416 ✭✭✭Jimmy Iovine

    Lovely passage of play there.

Bear in mind we didn't have a shot on target against Sweden, just because it might have been easy on the eye doesn't mean it was especially effective for actually winning a match.

Thought if anything the Austrian fouled McCarthy since he got none of the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

That's exactly why it's so infuriating to see McClean cutting inside all the time. Brilliant cross there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,122 ✭✭✭Imhof Tank

Must weather this storm. Otherwise we will be out of the tournament tonight.

George Hamilton failing to grasp significance of McCarthy booking there - thinks missing the Faroes game is the issue rather then being inhibited for the rest of tonights game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,428 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

McClean is very one dimensional as a winger.

A headless chicken. Does the same thing every time. Very predictable.
