Played yesterday in Shannon. Such a good course. Very tough conditions. We (Woodstock) beat Ennis in the morning but were beaten by Kilkee in the afternoon who are playing Shannon in the Clare Area final this morning.

Shannon beat Kilkee 3/2 this morning in awful conditions. Won first match on 19, lost second 2&1, won third 2up, lost 4th 4&3 and won last 3&2. Was very very tight.

Lucan victory over Hollywood Lakes in Metropolitan.

Was on the away team for Hollywood. Lucan is an extremely impressive golf club and the hospitality was first class. The Lucan team were excellent sports and really enjoyed my round even though I got what I consider, a bit spanked.

Should be some interesting matches in the West Munster Section in Kenmare Saturday as Killorglin seem to be putting a huge effort in the teams this year. Winning their Bruen section and in the West Munster final. Ross and Killarney will be challenging. On the other side of West Munster Kanturk, Doneraille and Tralee should be in and about winning it

Interesting that you give no mention to the reigning All Ireland champs.

No worries my man, Pierce Purcell isn't really my thing, but I'll head into Kenmare in the afternoon for the laugh anyway.

Anybody know if you can play the course before a Jimmy Bruen match (Connacht).
Selected for the team to play away but struggling to find a time to get a practice round in.
It just so happens i'm off work the day of the match and could play a few holes beforehand if it was allowed???

unless it has been changed recently, you can. When I used to play Bruen away from home, we would always go to a course a good bit of time before hand to play a few holes and got loosened up.

( Been about 4 years though since I was last at an away match in the bruen, so not sure other than that )

check that booklet for more details - should be something in there.

Rangefinders are legal as long as they cannot pick up the wind. Do not bring an iPhone or similar device just to avoid controversy

Should be less, but it can be 4 hours because its a match, you'll be taking extra time with club selections and reading putts that it will stretch to 4 hours
