Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have learned from afar over the last few years about this mysterious man of Irish genealogy.

The scepticism and academic rigour he applies relentlessly in his work can sometimes make it seem that he is actively searching for toes to tread on, and he has few friends in Irish genealogical circles (or cliques, as he might see them).

The lone ranger, forging a path of academic rigour in a sea of "that person had the same name as my ancestor therefore he/she is my ancestor" and copy and paste Ancestry trees.

I'm delighted to read that article too. Sean Murphy makes us into good researchers. His course is excellent, wide ranging in subject matter and well worth the time and effort.
    Thanks for sharing it.

    +1 to that man!

Still haven't found the column in the new layout but delighted to see Sean Murphy, my former lecturer, getting some praise.

Thanks for posting this. I followed the link and found this http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/1926C, it is dated 2008. I am disappointed there aren't more signatures since then. I will pass this onto my friends who would be interested in signing it too.

P.S. I can't find the column in the online Irish Times either. Do you need to be a subscriber?

I think that petition site might not be much in use anymore, also it's a US site. There's no recent activity in 2013.
