Not sure where to post this, but i start here :)

Right i have an entry for this so was looking for advice from previous runners of this marathon.

I can do this trip with a sports travel company and they get me to the Staten island for start of the race, travel from airport etc.

Or i could find my own way. Whats the best option, is it hard to get to Staten Island etc?

    Thanks

No need to have someone organise this for you.

If your staying in Manhattan, you can either get the subway down to the ferries or walk down if your close enough. They will take you over to Statten Island. Its very straighforward.

Once you get off the ferry there will be loads of buses lined up along the road, you just hop on one and its takes you to the start area as soon as it fills up.
You will be in the starts area early and it will be cold so wear plenty of layers!

If there's one thing I could change about my New York marathon trip, it would've been to actually stay on Staten Island, close to the race start. Might not be much out there, so this could be easier said than done, but it's a damn long morning before you ever get to the start line. Fantastic experience once that gun goes off though, absolutely unforgetable.
